Although our u20's actually finished third in the league so it's not as if the young players arent there, Agar just didnt give them a chance because he was more worried about saving his own ar$e! I expect to see at least 2-3 youngsters make the step up to the first team next year under Gentle, he's already made it quite clear that it will be a priority of his, and so it should be. Having said that, Hull can't be slated for their overall development of youngsters over the past few years, you only have to look at players like Tom Briscoe and Danny Houghton to realise that.

It's quite hard to judge academy production based on one season. For example you may only 'debut' 1 player one season but 6/7 the season before or after.

Very true. The only telling factor is youth players that become regular first team players (even at another club).

Good example for this would be Widnes as despite having very strong academy results our SL rejection in 2008 mentioned lack of players actually going all the way through the ranks.
