You're just on the wind up now surely?
Danny McGuire has a .61% hit rate playing in the #1 SL side of all time......Dorn has a hit rate of .65% playing for mostly cannon fodder. ....Burrows is .40%......not able to lace Dorn's Boots.
You name 2 Leeds players trying to put down an Aussie who had a better strike rate than either of those players who were playing in sides who were winning....Dorn played his games English with a side averaging 39% win rate.....yet he outscored your 2 leeds heroes Danny (67% win) and Rob (67%) per game per score......he's no Show Pony, but as I said, you know this and you're on the wind up!

TBH I don’t really agree with the original view that Dorn was a show pony but this whole tries scored thing isn’t really a good comparison. Not only because theirs a lot more to a player than just tries scored but the 3 being talked about here (Dorn, McGuire and Burrow) all played different positions and had different lengths of SL careers. Dorn didn’t start here until 23, if he was here at 18/19 would that percentage still be as high or if he carried on as late as McGuire whose played on older? More seasons McGuire plays that number goes down as he’s less of a try scorer now. The difference in his tries scores percentage before and after his serious knee injury at the end of 2010 would be quite substantial I’d imagine but he became a much more rounded HB over time . Burrow became impact sub hooker in 2011 so wasn’t like he was always on the pitch and towards the end of his career was lucky to get more than 20 mins with the form of Parcell so those numbers above are massively missing important context.

| It's a difficult one to choose. If I had to pick one, including longevity, I would probably go for McGuire. He was the ultimate finisher who developed into a creator & organiser. It's hard to be critical of Burrow given his whole approach to the game. I felt sorry when he was moved to hooker, especially given the crap currently masquerading as HBs. But to be critical of Dorn is just bitter & churlish; he is one of the best value imports we have had. He had a better natural all round game than the others but not quite the electric pace of a young McGuire.

I have to second that. Dorn scored some beauties, including an absolute stunner against us at the KC for London I think it was. Very talented player who never got picked up by a top team which surprises me considering some of the dross that has been over here.

| I liked Dorn, he was very good to watch and scored some belters, but always thought he was a bit suspect in defence and that held him back from being a really top player.

I suppose when you look at the top teams and the FB’s they had during Dorn’s years it’s not as surprising, Leeds had Webb and Hardaker, Wigan has Tomkins, Saints had Wellens, Wire got Hodgson so their was done quality around the FB position during Dorn’s best years in SL.

Leeds fans might talk about them for generations, I`ve already forgot about DM to be honest and he`s still playing.
IMO Dorn was a decent player that played in average sides, Danny Mag was a decent player that played in a great side and Burrow was a good player that played in a great side.

So, when faced with the cold hard facts (statistics), you talk about "legendary status"....lol......you were the first person to refer to Dorn as a show pony, so there's at least one person who hasn't forgotten him.

McGuire was a significantly better player than Burrow.
McGuire turned himself into a very good half back from his early days which were built on speed and support play.
Burrow never really kicked on as a half which is why he was relegated to a support hooking role. Still had very useful impact don’t get me wrong and helped turn a few important games in our favour. However McGuire was the all round better player and played a significant, consistent role in Leeds victories

McGuire and Burrow were key to why they were a great side. You make it sound like they were a Ryan Bailey or Ian Kirke who were fortunate to be in that era.
