| Quote knockersbumpMKII="knockersbumpMKII"Murray shouldn't be in at all, he's failed miserably in singles so should only be in with team GB for a team award
Fury is a plastic champ in an era so devoid of talent it's ridiculous.
Ennis Hill will win but for me Peaty should get 2nd, absolute sensation in the pool, Whitlock as the first GB gold medal performance in the individual gymnastics at a world level is not to be sniffed at.
If Froome hadn't got knocked off his bike in the Vuelta and won it (as I reckon he would have done) and doing the double would have being in with a proper shout, as it is he won't.
Uness there are some shenanigans then Sinfield will be out of the running after the first round of shortlisting the short list.
Leeds would IMHO have won the team award were it not for the tennis lot...oh well'"
I appreciate the focus of this topic is RL but I just wanted to pick up on your point re Froome. He's more deserving a winner than Wiggins ever was. After all, Froome carried Wiggins on his back in 2012 and this years TDF was much tougher due to the parcours and quality of rider. Wiggins was favoured in 2012 due to the favourable ITTs.
As for Sinfield, it's great to see an RL player nominated. However, I can't help but feel it is merely tokenistic, with the BBC promoting one of the few sports that they televise.

Froome is probably (just) the better all rounder on the road comparing their peaks, but to say he carried Wiggins in 2012 is a little oversimplifying things to say the least and being a bit disingenuous to Brad. This year you could say that Froome got lucky (being in the front break on the 2nd stage which essentially cost Quintana the tour) he also had the strongest team SKY had assembled (Thomas's viewpoint), Stannard and Rowe were epic whilst superdomestic Geraint Thomas was superlative, without Thomas, Froome would never have won in a month of Sundays.
When Brad won SPOTY he was the first ever Brit to win the TdF which along with his Olympic TT win, Paris-Nice, Tour of Romandie and the Critérium du Dauphiné plus he did stand out because he had a personality and was outspoken against the media he justified his win IMHO.

I thought the same, but it could 'backfire' on them as he is currently 3rd favourite with the bookies at 12/1
I don't think he'll win but a top 3 placing would be an amazing achievement

The show celebrates sporting achievements in the year 2015 95% of which was spent playing RL.

Plus, 100% of his achievements were made in RL. But you can bet your life that a substantial part of the RL community will grab any excuse not to vote for a rival team's (former) player.

www.justbookies.com/spoty-odds/? ... Gwod8YoFAA
Odds continue to lower with some bookies with him 7-8/1 with some now, comfortably ahead of Fury (roughly 25-1) and Hamilton as far back as 40-1 with some. 15p to vote, vote 10 times, that's only £1.50 to put a RL player in contention for even higher than 3rd place.

| If you're an RL fan then VOTE KEV. Simple as that. Imagine having an RL player as SPOTY?? (YES AN RL PLAYER NOT A UNION PLAYER. ALL THE VT'S THAT ARE BEEN FILMED ARE RL RELATED) The profile that will do for the sport will be immense! No 3"x3" column on the latter sports pages of the times...Back page Kevin Sinfield of the Northern game called Rugby League on the back page of every national newspaper....Not to mention getting one over Union again this year after their poor WC campaign. I'm not just saying this because its Kevin Sinfield. I would still urge everyone to vote even if it was Tomkins... RL is the bigger picture here.
I'll be voting all night. 100 times if time allows, and that will only be £15.

| There should be odds on how long it takes the BBC to ask Sinfield about his yawnion career.

| Well, the amount of lobbying from the Loiners to rally the “R.L. Family” into voting for Sinfield is thoroughly enjoyable .
We are the most myopic bunch of supporters in Christendom & I’m sure, if it was say Tomkins up for the award, the majority of Leeds fans would rather stick pins in their eyes than spend three bob promoting the game.

Wrong (where I'm concerned anyway and I guess for thousands of others). Though I'm an atheist so maybe I can't speak for the others you mention!

If Tomkins was as humble and thought more of his team as Sinfield did I would happily vote for him
