I think you’ll find that the conspiracy I proposed in the opening post could well be very real in the worldly side of things. Despite big efforts to stop war ever happening again after world war two its still going on.
But whenever the Remnant Nazis are suppressing rugby league is another thing.
The one thing I think we can all agree on is the Nazi’s wasn’t directly involved with suppressing rugby league in France in the first place - it was Vichy.
However going by the remnant Nazi theory, it would surprise me if there’s a new generation of Vichy elements within the Nazi ranks.

| Is no one a bit worried about what happens when Union, as they are clearly discussing, opens up its game via the rules into a more flowing game?
I caught a couple of S14 games last year with these new ruck rules and it was a far superior product. Granted it looked like a full time version of league 50 years ago and I still prefer my league but this year in SL and the NRL there were some downright boring attrition games at times. There is more variety in the union game and if someone wakes up, smells the roses and basically admits we were right all along: it could be curtains for league in this country.
Hopefully we'd adapt and evolve again but.. I have my worries. No one will care who has the better athletes if they enjoy the product more, hell, none of us care about soccer.

I've said this many times... but I'll say it again.
League will survive in the UK...and so will Union.
There are enough people who enjoy both codes. There will be people who will never consider watching a Union game...and people who will never consider watching a league game.
Neither code will die out as the doom merchants on here seem to think might happen.

| I dont think we'll die out as such.
But we get so little coverage as it is, I genuinely believe we're only THIS succesful because of a superior product to all around. We get about as much coverage as darts.. and yet tens of thousands more roll up.
Union improves beyond recognition.. I dont think anyone would give us a look in.

I dont think league is 'better' than Union... its like saying milk chocolate is 'better' than dark chocolate.
2 similar products and both will always be preferred by some and not others.
I prefer league (as we all do on here) but I don't dislike the 15 man code.

| Theres some decent elements.. but overall its just flipping boring.
We'll always be on top in the product stakes until they change something fundamental, to which I think they will.
They have to get off their high horse, as discussed in this thread first though.
That, or they'll go down to 13 men and ditch rucks and claim the idea as their own.

The Nazi bit is a bit of a laugh.
But the fact remains rugby league is suppressed in France...
Or do you believe otherwise?

Union is still about 100 years behind on the field.

nah SL is fine.
RL in england has decades of growth ahead of it
funnily i always associate a stronger nrl with a stronger SL and the nrl is going from strength to strength
club union is flogging a dead horse
with saturation media coverage they still get poor club crowds and the clubs are all (or 90% of them) losing millions
SL should just continue improving as a competition and it will become the 2nd most popular football code.

The first bit is a given with you btw...
Moreover, I don't buy the analogy unless you add some other factors, such as in the case of dark (union) versus milk (rugby league) chocolate:
1. dark chocolate advocates tipped glass in the milk chocolate mixing tanks;
2. dark chocolate advocates flooded the milk chocolate factory so they couldn't make chocolate;
3. dark chocolate lobbied the government to outlaw milk chocolate;
4. dark chocolate used its political position to try and introduce a law stating "all milk to be used in chocolate making was to be restricted to the making of dark chocolate (whether required or otherwise)";
5. milk chocolate was renamed "not quite dark chocolate" etc. etc.

Club Rugby Union seems to be going from strength to strength in this country and its still so painful to watch. It was just an observation that if the RU premiership flowed as well as these few S14 games I watched, we'd be in trouble.

Crowds are falling. The people have awaken to the awful product.
I noticed that the Russian government has made league clubs switch to union in the hope of winning gold in 7's at London 2012.
