It won't stay a secrete for long and surely the RFL know that.

| Not quite sure why people are getting their knickers in a twist over season tickets. The new system will be no different to now where you get a season ticket for the regular season and then must buy tickets for the playoffs.
In this case you'll get a season ticket for the regular season (presumably 23 rounds) and so 12 home games. Then for the split into 3 groups of 8 you'll have to pay for those games on top. Like the current playoffs.
As for the argument it makes the regular season meaningless, again no different to the current playoffs or the playoffs for promotion between the leagues. Points aren't carried over from the regular season into the playoffs currently.
Personally I'd rather we'd stuck with licensing (but done properly) for another 10+ years at least. And if we were going to bring back P&R I'd have just gone back to straight P&R. But the arguments about season tickets etc are just silly.

| Well all I can say is the bottom few teams in Super League better start to perform on the field otherwise they WILL be playing the likes of Leigh, Featherstone & Halifax and after 22 rounds of getting pasted it WILL be their own fault!

| I've still got a few doubt about it but we'll just all have to see how it goes.
Knowing the RFL they'll probably change the format again by 2020 anyway (going on a six year average).

An I right in thinking after the split there's "a round robin" between the 8. Then a play-off system for a GF. Or are these details to be confirmed? If it is a round robin how do they expect families to pay ÂŁ20 each 7 weeks in a row and then GF tickets? Madness.

I'm sure they would relish a play off against part time teams as opposed to finishing bottom and instant relegation. It's sort of like a second chance for been crap.

| Quote SmokeyTA="SmokeyTA"but in the premier league they dont get 2/3rds through the season forget everything that has happened then start all over again. Whatever points Aston Villa earn in the PL are what they earn in the PL.
Under this structure you can earn 20 points in the 22 games, if you dont qualify for the 8, those wins are completely discarded'"
and in the championship in footy, you could come 3rd by 12 points and end up in a playoff, while the team in 6th with 25 points less eventually gets promoted.
Not fair no, but its the rules and the footy playoffs have made a very dull end tot he season exciting.
I agree the situation you have said may not seem fair, but its will help put some life into a sport which has been dull for years. come the 23rd game there may be 4 teams able to secure 7/8 place. All with an hell of a lot more incentive to get there.

and how knackered are the players going to be after 22 rounds, then 8 intense round robin games, then playoff games, then potentially a Grand Final and international fixtures!

Well somebody has to finish in the bottom four, does that mean they haven’t given their all?
BTW, regarding those pasting’s they have received, they will get their own back in the “own fault” league.

I'll give it 2-3 years before it's changed again.
Is there another competition in any sport that successfully uses this formula?
If the answer's no there's probably a reason.

| Im quite certain I didn't say they wouldn't give their all, but for once in a long time some of those players who run out game 1 will in the back of their mind know they need to perform unless they want to be playing on the slope at Fev or at the LSV.
As a Rugby League fan do you not think 22 rounds of high intensity Super League games with meaningful outcomes might just be the slightest bit exciting for the fans?
Don't forget the "booby prize" is coming to play at Leigh???

| So the bottom line is that the players will play more games for the same money, and fans will have to shell out for a lot more games outside of their season tickets.
