| PNG has a GDP of over $14b and brings in government revenue of about $3b, the cost of running an NRL club is a drop in the ocean.
If the PNG government see this as an opportunity and want the game and their club to act as a focal point for their nation, it would not only be arrogant to turn them down, but idiotic.
With a willing Government there is nothing anyone has said on this thread which would be not only overcome but overcome easily

Does that include making the place safe?
The place is an absolute hole with no foundations or infrastructure to play any Sport at an elite level on a weekly basis at the moment.
Willingness only gets you so far until reality kicks in.

Safe for who?
60 foreigners 15 times a year?
certainly.
Whilst it is certainly a harsh life for large portions of Papuans lets not pretend its beyond the thunderdome.

to be fair Jonesy. Hasn't ECT pointed out they will build one.
I like what ECT's written, it's very positive and can make perfect sense. They have a lot of hurdles in front of them at the mo though, let's just see how it comes along.

as has been mentioned the PNG government has offered top build a village to house vistiting teams and referees
its just those being critical are ignoring what is being proposed and are apparently immune to logic

| When the PNG Govt can organise clean running water and childhood education to their population then I will consider them ready to take on the challenge of running an NRL club!
I'm all for working with them to get jnr RL academies improved, to get more Kumul tests via a decent stadium being built and working towards a Q'land cup team. When they can achieve those things, then in a couple of decades when they are no longer a corrupt basketcase they can be considered for an NRL license.

| Does that go for the WA government and remote Aboriginal communities as well? What about deaths in custody?
An NRL team in PNG will help some of their problems. What would a Perth team do to help disadvantaged people in WA?
When WA can achieve solutions to these problems I will consider them ready to have an NRL team.
