| Quote: JEAN CAPDOUZE "This promotion of Leigh to Super League is the worst decision in the history of Super League, other than the demotion of London and Bradford.
Leigh is a suburb of Wigan, with no train station nearby and hellishly difficult public transport connections. Yes, it draws bigger crowds than Salford, but that is no criterion for promotion. Bradford and London deserve to be back in Super League, and Leigh deserves to be in a better run Championship with the likes of Halifax, Sheffield, Featherstone and Batley.
I look forward to Toulouse decisively defeating Leigh in the Million Pound Game at the end of 2017.'"
There is a vast difference between enjoying the craic & enjoying some [iCrack[/i John Flatcap .....
Step away from the latter.

| The promotion of Leigh is the best thing to happen to super league in years. A well run, ambitious club that has [iearned their place with performances on the field[/i. Being a local club it will also create some local derby type match ups as well.
It's great to see a team promoted based purely on their on field performances.
If the fanciful Toulouse want their seat at the table they are going to have to earn it on the field.

And if they would have had crap crowds, a crap ground, very little money and we're made up of purely players who have already proved average at best in SL, with no player development to speak of, would it still be the best thing to happen to SL then.
Before people start foaming at the mouth, only one of those things apply to Leigh (the academy bit) and they have done a good job of developing players that might otherwise have been lost to the game.
Leigh are a good team to come up. Im just trying to make the point that success on the field should not be the only criteria for being allowed at the top table.
What I worry about is that because of the quality of the teams below those with a chance to come up, all we are likely to see is the same clubs swapping and changing and no one actually developing.

Leigh haven't played in super league for 10 years. Last years MPG teams are nowhere around. So far it's too early to say it'll be the same teams swapping. Performances on the field should be the only criteria. It is for deciding champions.
If a team manages to oust a super league despite having no youth development, yet also poor crowds and therefore little money to buy up players, then they've done pretty f*cking well and deserve it. Generally speaking good performances on the field will be a by product of good things happening off the field.

A millionaire owner isn't such a bad thing. The game isn't exactly flush, and it's a bit rich for super league team fans (not directed at you, just mean in general) to be squawking about owners with money considering most super league clubs are bankrolled to some degree and a fair few have breached SC rules at some point.

And then let us all in for free for our final home game against Batley , the North stand 4,000 tickets have already gone ( meaning I'm having to sit in the East stand for the 1 st time ) and if the demand continues we could be looking at a sell out by Saturday
Any other club was allowed to spend the same if they had it

Not against it all, it just means that promotion and a strong on-field team isn't necessarily an indicator of 'good things', Celtic Crusaders were exactly the same and did exactly the same things and they are universally hated on here for it. In fact Celtic were arguably a stronger entity than Leigh because they actually ran junior teams and had development pathways.

You would hope that would be the case.
I suppose I just think their was a lot this year about clubs like feath, bradford and Sheffield pushing themselves to the edge just because being competitive on the field is 'good enough' I also question how much adding Featherstone or Batley to the top flight if we already have Cas, Wakefield, Leeds in that area. How much can they actually grow?
And I genuinely do believe that their are only certain clubs who will ever (big statement I know) have the potential to push into SL in this or any format, and eventually we will see a couple of clubs who are constantly in the middle eights, whether that be championship or SL. That is conjecture at this point but IMO we've already seen it start to happen with it being about 4/5 championship clubs then everyone else.

No they didn't , Leigh's spending is all out in the open , not hidden behind a £ 150 K salary cap in NL2 , and then a £ 250K one the year later when they were promoted
As regards their support base , their stadium , their players legality to work in Britain , where their funding actually came from ?
As far as your argument of Leigh's reserve grade this year , are you aware we don't have anybody to actuall play

Ah, the token Welsh team (love Wales by the way, great Country) who had [iSpecial Disspensations[/i on overseas quotas *under the development area banner*, a good number of which did not have visas, poor following, RL not wanted by the majority of the people who favour Union, financially practically bankrupt.
You're not registered as Jean Capdouze too are you ?
