Don't think anyone's mentioned Hull K.R's little ray of sunshine, Chris Burton. I'll always remember when he was substituted in the Wigan Test in '86 and he tried to start a fight with someone in the crowd.

For the most part I think 'Boris' was clumsy rather than out and out dirty. You certainly couldn't put him up there with the likes of Les Boyd.

Indeed, he was also clean compared to Frank Foster for example, but for the record Foster was just out and out hard, not thuggish, well, for most of the time!

I would agree with you there, its not your average dust up Bowden seemed intent on killing Boardhurst.

As i started watching league in the early 80's i would say Les Boyd was the worst,followed by Len Casey & Chris Burton

There wasn't much wrong with the Gilmour tackle, a bit lazy and Gilmour was unlucky to be hurt. It is only ever remembered because it happened in the same match as that fantastic tackle on Sean Long.
