Shenton and Bridge IMHO opinion will never be good enough to compete with the likes of Hodges, Inglis, Jennings ect. I feel the likes of Charnley, Briscoe, Watkins, Ben Jones Bishop will be which is why we need to play them rather than the names you suggest.

| BJB is the best FB at Leeds at the moment and that is his best position. That said, he is a very good winger too. Maybe put him on the wing like the Aussies do with Hayne.

| Yeaman and Briscoe have to be together for England. 39 tries between them this season, the highest scoring winger/centre partnership in the league.

I don't get the hype about Shenton tbh. Everytime I've seen him play this season he doesn't seem to of done much and in a Saints team. Doesn't say much really when he's only scored 8 tries this season and another who's missed alot of tackles, 43!

| For me Shenton doesn't offer anything in attack. It's all good and well people saying Briscoe and Yeaman have scored so many tries and they should be in the England team but that crap IMO. IMO defending is much more important when we face the Aussies and kiwis. Someone mentioned Welham but he can't defend an would be ripped to shreds at international level.

So why not try it and see if it works at the end of this season rather than getting to the World Cup? Maybe you would be surprised by Welhams defence. Stats do not tell a whole story and much of them are dependant on the team around the player.
Also the best form of defence is attack. If we score more tries than them we'll win (generally anyway!). Hull KR vs Barrow many years ago was 0-0 for most of the match, two solid defences, Barrow won the game 0-1. So defend as well as we like if we don't have dangerous attackers in the side we might as well no bother.
At centre then who are our best defenders? We know Yeaman and Welham could both score tries on the left centre and Briscoe could play outside either one of them and bag plenty of points. Some names that have been mentioned wouldn't fill me with confidence in defence, like the Huddersfield lads, their defensive structures are good and their team mates generally leave them with one option to take, Nathan Brown gets credit for this, but put them in an England team where they might not have that same structure I personally think they'd struggle just as much as anyone else. Atkins needs to be kept away from the side IMO, he bottled it in Aus and while second chances are all well and good we have players deserving of an opportunity.

Briscoe is the best all round winger we have. Good tackler, fairly good in the air, carries it like a forward, quick and has abit of x factor. He routinely scores tries that not many other wingers would ever score.
Yeaman isn,t world class by any means, but he wouldnt let anyone down. Strong defender, knows how to run onto a ball and already has a good understanding with Briscoe. Most importantly though he has shown he isnt out of his depth at this level when he performed well in 2006.
If we went with those two I'm sure they would be able to deal with what the Aussies and Kiwis have to offer and cause them a few problems of their own.

So, to summarise, Shenton doesn’t offer anything in attack and yet Yeaman and Briscoe’s inclusion through proven try scoring is crap. Defending is most important when we face the Aussies and Welham can’t defend
Who exactly would you play in the centres and wing for England?

He is a very good winger, big, strong, great appetite for work, decent hands, decent under the high ball, wonderful finishing ability. Im happy with him over Briscoe.
Tomkins, Briscoe, Yeaman, Tomkins, Hall
is a decent back five for us. I think its dangerous, big, fast, strong, dynamic

I dont think Briscoe is a bad player. In fact I think he is probably the more likely of the two to create some 'magic'. I think Hall does more work, and is a better finisher, Briscoe does less but to a slightly higher standard and is more likely to pull something out of the hat.
Hall will get you more from your exit sets and will finish anything you offer him, Briscoe is more dangerous and can still get them down.
They will be complement each other well imo. Better than Carney/Reardon, Carney/Pryce/Raynor
