People are only excited because he's French. If Cas signed a 22 year old from Hull KR with next to no first team experience people would be underwhelmed.

A lot of cas fans are excited based on his appearance at wheldon road this year. He made a huge impact. Came on at 20-0 to Cas and played a big part in the dragons fightback to 20-18 knocking anyone around him back a peg or two. I don't think Powell will play him Thursday. He will be a project I think but I very much trust Daryl's judgement here.

That's like saying Saints were more excited to sign Mose Masoe than some prop from Hull KR. Of course they were, it's a player from a different country with a different style that has the potential to bring something different to the team.

Gadwin Springer is a young player with enormous potential. But he still needs the guidance of a competent coach. He is more likely to find this at Castleford than at Catalans. I suspect that he will improve dramatically over the coming year, and during 2016 will be regarded as a game changer for his club.

Catalans lose out but Castleford and France gain a new star.
