Yes it was. His arm comes over the Wakefield players shoulder and hits his head, then carrying on over the top of his head.

It doesn't. It wasn't a high tackle and even if it was (it wasn't) an actual classic high tackle from a Wakefield player went without a bin later on.
It was a chickensh*t decision from a stupid referee and it cost us any hope of winning. Rather tellingly Wakefields last try was down Flynn's emptied wing.

| It was a marginal penalty at best, to put him in the bin for it was nothing short of absurd, even for a referee as utterly incompetent as James Child.

Yes it does, im watching it on replay now and the arm quite clearly hits the Wakey players shoulder and carries on to hit his head then up and over his head.
I'd agree the binning was daft, still doesn't mean it's not a high tackle.

| Quote: LeedsDave "Why number 6?
if Flynn had held him down it would have been a sin binning, surely a high tackle to stop the breakaway should also be a yellow? Otherwise players would just high shot to stop those!'"
you seriously think that incident was worth a sin bin? a penalty yes, but never a sin binning, their was cover defence to stop the tackle as flynn hadnt completed the tackle!

| Just seen it, absurd, just absurd. Although with that ref it does not surprise me. A penalty? Maybe, 20 like that get ignored in most games. But a yellow card? No way! Wakey player hit one of our guys on the floor a few minutes later with an elbow smash to the face, but that's acceptable. Child is a joke.

| Lee smith should have been binned on 72 minutes, for what actually was a professional foul.

All he needs is a red nose and a collection of crap balloon animals and the cretin's transition into a full on clown will be complete.

| He made terrible decisions both ways, one of the worst displays by a ref this year, don't think it changed the result though.

At a pivotal moment of the game he sends one of ours off. I can understand that point when it's something like an incorrect knock on, but we were down to 12 right at the end when players are at their most tired, and you scored down the wing our player should have been.
The game deserved better than that. The referee decided the game by calling that. I'm not saying we would have won, I'm saying it would be been a real competition.
Flynn should have stayed on, and/or Smith (?) should have walked. Referee ruined the game.

besides the winning try being scored whilst we were a man down. besides that winner coming down the sin binned players undermanned wing, and besides the sin binning coming when we were getting on top? If we discount all of that then yes, it didn't change the result. I understand he made terrible decisions both ways but none of the ones against you were clear game changers. Itsnot the first time recently that refereeing absurdity or outright incompetence has either definately or quite possibly cost us a win. Its rather tiresome.

| Yep the spoiling tactics employed today by Widnes should have been nipped in the bud early doors but Childs did nothing about them and they got well out of hand.
