Yes. Pre-season friendlies are completely meaningless, especially when players are still trying to digest a mountain of turkey and generous helpings of Blue Nun.

Not sure. Someone told me that the club had come to its senses and abandoned the pointless Christmas pre-season friendlies. If that was down to the Blue Nun then I'm ordering several crates of the stuff for the club every December from now on.

Especially as they STILL had more overseas players in their side than Leigh did.

Around half the Salford side had SL experience, 5 or 6 are in the starting 13 week in week out, the rest are full time atheletes knocking on the door of what we're lead to believe is a 'Super' League club.

10 minutes spells, first game friendly or not, collectivley they got outmuscled on a pefect pitch by lads who work on building sites and in factories 5 days a week.

Good to see some live adult RL again, both teams wanted the win and produced a competitive game.

Salford missing 7 overseas meant 18 first team squad players used, Leigh missing 4 in Paul, Blythe, Armstrong and Govin.

Great to see a Leigh team with so many local lads in it again, most having come through our non existent youth system.

What impressed me was the line speed and team spirit plus a great looking set of forwards for this level

There's a lot of Salford fans getting pretty touchy and aggro about yesterday seen as it was 'just a freindly'. Maybe you are a bit more worried about the result than you are letting on. We're no threat to you so let us enjoy the fact we beat a Super League team and, unless you have reason to, don't fret about it.

He has a point though. Without most (but not all) of your Overseas players you looked very ordinary indeed even when playing against a CC side. It was your full-time SL british players + Nero against our part-time Championship british lads and you got beaten by a better team on the day. Admittedly it was only a one point loss (but was still 3 tries to 2 in Leigh's favour).

Possibly a one-off, possibly not but it points to an over reliance on your many overseas players.
