| Has the NRL salary cap now become a live cap like we have in the super league?

No. It's more in the nature of a dead weight. And has been for some time.
A salary cap without a draught is half of a solution. Which makes it no solution at all...

NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_9857.jpg |

| its a joke, they are saying 3rd party deals have to be independent of any club influence. What a load of rubbish. if that was the case where are all the 3rd party deals Inglis was going to get at the Broncos? Wow what a surprise they were all withdrawn when Inglis decided to not join the Broncos. The NRL salary cap becomes more of a joke year on year. Nothing wrong with clubs using their connections to get players decent deals. Tough luck on clubs that are such poor businesses that they don;t have those connections.

| This does seem unfair. There should be no third party payments. To keep an even playing field. ie. the point of the salary cap.

I agree but if we want to keep the likes of Inglis in our game and say not go to union they should be better paid, surely it's time for the NRL to raise the salary cap.

| not only that but it gets the players in the magazines/tv etc advertising products which ultimately raises the profile of the game. Clubs should be allowed two marquee players who can earn whatever they like from 3rd parties. In fact if I was a player I would be talking to my lawyer about restraint of trade!

nrl rejects deal
souths have to put gi in at $300,000 - $350,000 for sc purposes so if they want him it will cost them a big player, either asotasi or lue, though champion has also been mentioned

| only in RL would we find a way to ensure the games top player couldn't get a contract!
I presume he is still under contract at Melbourne, they will be sweating now and hoping RU comes in and steals him away no doubt.

| I'd lose Asotasi, he's been expensive hand luggage for a couple of seasons.
I doubt he will play AFL, not the type of player who could adjust I wouldn't think and they have their pin up boys for the two new teams.

according to this it's Champion, Crocker and Lowe that they are trying to get rid of.
I'd keep Ben Lowe, he had a good year last year and Champion isn't a bad centre. I'd definately be trying to get rid of Crocker first, he's hardly played since joining them and there strong in the forwards without him.

| It'd be Crocker out of those three who'd be the preferred player to let go.
