Then you overcome it. Its what professional sportsmen do.
If Manly were that much better, it being a little bit colder here isnt really relevent.

Does this way to win include getting the benefit of a very dodgy call on the Webb bomb spill which 99 times out of 100 would be called a knock on and does it also include getting away with forward passes.
If the answer is yes, the "finding a way to win" in your world means the officials having a shocker in your favour and cheating the rules?'"
That can happen in any game though. Plenty of teams get lucky calls, but not all are good enough to take advantage of them.

Dear me. It's less to do with the weather and more to do with the travelling several thousand miles and not being match fit. How hard is that to understand?
And for the last time, it's not about Leeds or Manly, it's about the concept as a whole.

Are you trolling or just bitter?
The Webb bomb spill quite clearly went backwards. Take a look at where Webb touches the ball and where the ball hits the ground.
As for forward passes - there were just as many forward passes by Manly not penalised as there were by Leeds, despite Manly's unwillingness to spread the play.
To class the ref as having a "shocker in Leeds' favour" and Leeds as "cheating the rules" is frankly bizarre and I have to question which game you were watching. What I saw was raised elbows, holding down and several dangerous tackles from Manly go pretty much unpunished aside from a penalty.

| Really enjoyed the game and the event of a whole.
The good thing about Headingly for is that you can move around the complex and don't feel confined to your seat.
Sadly I got stuck in a massive traffic jam after the game as apparently someone was run over. Does anyone know anything?
Also really enjoyed the Heinz challenge. My mate managed to get in the top 3 with a time of 8.1 seconds but didn't get a prize. Did anyone win a ball or any prize?

I managed 9.8 and didn't get anything
Didn't even know I could win anything until I saw this thread! Safe to say I had a few too many beforehand. Good sponsors though, hopefully they will get more involved after last nights success.
RE the game, Manly didn't deserve to win, if they didn't take it seriously then thats their problem, Leeds will have the Prize money and a trophy to boot. It's a shame that the Aussies treat the competition with little respect, and it serves them right when they get beat. I would love to see the match played at the end of the season though, maybe in a neutral country, the USA for example, bet they would go mad for it.

I'm not sure you definitely could but I saw some lads walking away with Heinz balls so...
They took my mates details down and they said something about a Magic Weekend competition but I'm not really sure what it was about.
Hope to see competitions like that again, really enjoyed it!

What would you clash as "near" a World Club Challenge? Can't get any nearer than the Grand Final surely?
You are therefore impressed

But that's the point isn't it. Smokey's arrogant statement of "winners find a way to win" coupled with a bit of parochial xenophobia, is typical from those who cannot appreciate that luck plays a part on most sporting events. His attitude is also inherently flawed when you consider last years cup final. Had Leeds lost their "way"

Not trolling or bitter, if you care to look at my first contribution to this thread you will see I was praising Leeds for their win. It's only a myopic few that choose not to see that.
Regarding the Webb incident, with the benefit of neutrality, which from your message you clearly don't have, if your team were on the wrong end of that decision you would be apoplectic about it.

| One of the good things about supporting a top club like Leeds in this golden spell of the last few seasons, is the fact that after a major trophy win, out of the woodwork comes the fans of the perennial under achievers of modern day Rugby League.
Whether its the simple gormlessness of Humbersiders, or the whinging bitterness of delusional Wigganers, the morning after entertainment value is almost on a par with the actual winning of the Trophy!
Long may it continue.

If Manly want to be world champions then they needed to win. They couldnt. If that was down to a lack of preparation on their part? Thats a failing in their squad, its a weakness to be exploited no different to how you would try and exploit a small pack, or poor defending around the ruck.
That wasnt Manly's greatest performance, but it was nowhere near there worst. There are probably 5 or 6 SL sides who could crack the NRL and be competitive there, some at the top end.
There is a simple way of checking, play more games.'"
Smokey, whilst I can only imagine your euphoria of seeing your club crowned ‘World Champions’, surely you don’t think this statement is correct.
The Aussies play at W.C.C intensity week on week, there’s no way any SL club would make the play-offs in the NRL. They would be bumping along with the Sharkies & Titans.

100% on the money! It's the gift that keeps on giving! Unfortunately I'm in brisbane on business and not back in the syders office till Friday when I can get stuck into the Manly fans.
As you rightly point out the SL Leeds hate crew just make our victories sweeter!

| Leeds did very well to win. Great defence. Ryan hall always seems to performed in the big games. However lets not kid ourselves. The sl clubs have an advantage. One side is in pre season while one side isnt. How could that not be an advantage? Now of course it would be great to see the australians take it more seriously but cant see it happening. NRL is everything! !
5 or 6 sides in SL that could compete in the top end of the NRL? Not a chance!! 4 Max and even then they would need time to adjust for the intensity week in week out.

This.
Watching the NRL for me is watching a different breed of Rugby. However Manly putting out an unfit side does no favours to how people see the competition over here. Anyone who watches the NRL must know how intense that competition is.
