| Quote: JB Down Under "5hit team'" Yep....in our 5 years in SL we haven't really been that good.
Quote: JB Down Under "no fans'" 3,000..but I take your point
Quote: JB Down Under "no money'" ...we have as much as DH wants to give us...which involces us being debt free, but I get your point
Quote: JB Down Under "no interest'" ...if by this you mean fans....you've already said that. If you mean in the game....in the south East.....then no, you are wrong and you know why.
Quote: JB Down Under "whored to RU'" Nothing to do with Union........we share an identity and a name, pay rent on the ground and are fun by a different back office. I actually wich we were run by the same back office.....the Union lot turned an ailing business into a money maker......
Quote: JB Down Under "yep a real proud member of the RL family!'" Yep...we are. We have achieved more in 6 short years than some other teams have in over the same period....3 capped kids, 2 from our own academy, players leaving to join bigger clubs, massive amateur growth, teams at every level of under age, some picked to represent their country as well.....
JB, you obviously support and defend your club from anyone who dares have a pop...as do I with Quins, but I always admit that we need more fans, need a business model that isn't reliant on one mans money and could do with a better performing team. What the recent HKA threads with regard to overseas players has shown me is that fans of that once great club refuse to accept that their team has too many overseas players, and if not breaking the rules, they are not adhearing to the spirit in which the regulations were created..........and if you read the thread title...your team is the main offender and most likely to have more foreigners than Englishmen in the 17...........
feel free to point out our failings in a "Blame London" thread (that was a great thread BTW).......but to point out another clubs failings in other areas other than overseas players....in a thread about overseas players just shows how insular some fans can be

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

Like W1g4n and the Salary cap , Ryan bailey and the use of the knee and elbow , Leeds with relation to the forward pass and probably every and any other club in probably any sport in the world

NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_9857.jpg |

| I've said all along that I would prefer to have more Hull grown lads in the squad and see an England side with 4 or 5 HKR players in it (makes it much more interesting to follow them). However if we win SL next year then, like Wigan fans this year, I really am not going to care too much what passports those players lifting the trophy have or if we haven't adhered to the "spririt of the rule" whatever the hell that means! I'd take HKR winning a trophy over watching England be competitvie in 3 games a year any day of the week.
ps I've also said all along that the amount of overseas players in SL is NOT the reason England can't compete with NRL produced players. It is about money, amount of jnrs playing the game, coaching standards, back room staff standards and national culture/mentality.

| In my opinion it's down to RL being the biggest sport in Aus and therefore able to attract the most talented youth.
We're competing with football which (for reasons I can't fathom) is vastly more popular.

there's a can of worms there that needs to stay firmly shut. It has led to the near devastation of the NRL board on this forum.....please stay away from encouraging a procession of posts of stats that, like all stats, can be used to suit any argument......

| Fair point but I would imagine by any measure you choose RL has more prominence in Aus compared to the UK.

| It's all Quins fault

| FFS Gutterfax, getting given a new name does not make it a new club. It's the same club that's been failing for 30 years, the same club that never deserved to be in SL in the first place. Real clubs like Wakefield and ourselves worked our way through the (now) National Leagues to be where we are today, Fulcrubronquins were wrongly fast-tracked at the expense of a real, deserving club (the Cougars).
ATEOTD you can say what you want about our debt, overseas players etc, but the bottom line is that Neil Hudgell has achieved more with Hull KR in his 6 years in charge that Flucrubronquins have in 30 years. He's built a club with a solid 8000 fan base (something we could only dream of 5 years ago), our season pass and merchandise sales are better then several fellow SL clubs (inc your good selves ), we've solidified our position in SL, made the play-offs in our 4th season (a good achievement by anyone's measuring), and are continuing to grow and develop as a club.
Fulcrubronquins are a sham of a club IMO: No fans, no marketability, no travelling support, nothing. If I was in charge of the RFL I would just throw in the towel now - put you in NL1, let the club prove itself and build itself (as real clubs do), and see if you can build a fanbase in NL1 by having a successful side playing attractive rugby league. It has to be worth a shot - I don't see how your crowds nearly 30 years ago (early 80's say) could have been any worse then now. If they were better, that means the club has gone backwards over the years (despite some serious help, preferential treatment and privilages ). We on the other hand are actually drawing as good a fanbase as we were when we were the best team in British RL. Impressive by anyone's view IMO.

By then Smokey will be arguing that Rovers are setting a fine example by having 8 non British players in their squad and all the other SL clubs are letting RL down by not promoting inclusivity and he always said that!
