There is no way Wakefield take 1000 away fans, with the exception of maybe Castleford (which is still in Wakefield so doesn’t really count).'"
To put another slant on things about away fans, they are much more important to the lesser clubs in our game. For instance, looking at Oldham's attendance figures last season, the average attendance for teams who don't have many travelling fans (Dewsbury, Batley, Toulouse, London and Sheffield) was around 550. The average for the other teams, which includes local derbies (Swinton, Halifax, Featherstone, Bradford, Rochdale and Hull KR) was around 1,000.
Accepted that away fans are less important financially to the top clubs, but vital for the likes of Oldham, where away supporters accounted (if we assume that the lower attended games had just 50 away supporters) for around a third of turnstile traffic for their home games last season.
In terms of attendances for Toronto fixtures, I'm sure we'll see something of a boost in attendances this year (albeit not as clear cut as last year), but I suspect that this will be mainly down to a combination of novelty factor and the fact that they'll be a team that most clubs' fans will want to beat. I doubt we'll see this skew in numbers after the novelty wears off in future seasons (regardless of what league they're in).

Fair point, a bit like Wigan and Hull playing SL games in Aus. They can muster a decent following the first time around but would struggle to repeat that on an annual basis.

Will you and thousands of other Leigh fans be traveling to Toronto for the return match later this year?
There will be more than the 10 at the LSV, and spoke to one of them (he was a hippy from Yorkshire).
Probably take around 500 fans...

Yeah because semi-pro clubs got to see pro players. You don't really understand context, do you?

Great point! The way the people who want to keep the game as a ‘local sport for local people’ go on you’d think clubs were taking thousands to away games each week. We’re lucky at Wigan if we get more then 500 away speccies at games (other then when we play Saints, Wire or Leigh).
Sky has already done its best to kill away attendances anyway so having clubs like Toronto, Toulouse, New York or Perth in won’t do us any harm at all.

There was a smattering of English Toronto fans in attendance Jean.
Which was 100 fold more than the Catalan Dragons to any away game.

So they do have a ground you've just decided in your mind that it won't be available.

| Toronto will give Leigh such a pasting on June 30 at Lamport Stadium, that the 20 Leigh fans in attendance will be wishing that they had not flown over there.
