| I don't specifically want any team out - other than the one who loses the requisite amount of games to deserve it.
In terms of impact on SL, Salford would probably be the easiest to take; their idiotic owner has done absolutely nothing to enamour the club to its supporters, and despite all his potential, I'm not sure that he's added anything of value to the sport.

| Quote: Hillbilly_Red ""Also, how do Sale cope with the access issues and are their crowds much better and if so, why ?"
I could weep when I compare how Salford does it with how Sale does it:
Sale :
Well just take the helicopter then, you'll be home in a jiffy

| Salford for me and not even close, they only have 3 fans all of which were falling over themselves to continuously tell us we were going down and chase would lead them to glory. even with a millionaire owner they offer nothing to the game. Youth development is disgraceful etc etc etc get Leigh in (who more than deserve another crack at SL)and Salford out and we have a better league

Really? We're we? All 3 of us? I don't recall saying anything of the sort but you know best.
Genuine question, who has come through the cas academy in recent years?

| Quote: Hillbilly_Red "Yes it would be: the most common statement on here regarding Salford (apart from the lie we do not develop young players) is that we have very few fans. It follows we have a small population from which the persons with sufficient wealth would appear.
(Cue comments telling supporters to put in a £1000 each; as usual we're generous with other people's money.)
There's a very good discussion on fan funded clubs here:
Some interesting comments, if slightly on the negative side.
The one recurring theme for me is the smaller clubs who are looking to and blaming the RFL for not bankrolling them with grants. How can they really expect to survive without a sustainable business model? It's like they expect that they deserve to be in existence just because, and it's someone else's fault if they're struggling. This is the big problem in the game, and for me, how better to solve it than engaging with the fanbase to get out into the local area and spread the word to build a genuine community club. You don't need money (or much at least) to do that, just a committed, organised group of people. Once you can get that in place and a club has genuine thriving roots, then that's where you're able to build a sustainable professional model to compete at the higher end of the game.
It probably doesn't fit in with the demand society that we live in today, but that's the difference between doers and naysayers.

I'll answer that one for you :-
Of the current squad regulars - Shenton, Lynch, Milner, Holmes, Massey, Boyle and Maher.
Players featured this season are - Ashley Robson, Tom Holmes, Keiran Gill, Brandon Westerman and Connor Fitzsimmons.
We are giving debuts this weekend to 2 more - Luke Million and Brandon Douglas.
We also have another "coming home" next year in Greg Eden.
So - this season that is a total of 14 academy products. Recent years (depending on what you regard as recent) is probably the same.

| Any playing elsewhere?
It's not too different for us in terms of numbers, niall and the walne brothers regulars, lannon back in now, not sure why he was dropped! wood and Bibby also played a bit.
Connor wilkinson played against wigan, I think gee and wilkinson have played this season also.
Then elsewhere we have sneyd, theo, Turner, ratchford top of my head
That's 13. Although admittedly the standard of the players we still have isn't close to yours. We aren't very good at keeping our better players...

| I cannot fault your reasoning Newbridge Wolf and, if you base the choice on "a club has genuine thriving roots", then HKR has to stay up. Both Hudd and Salford suffer from round ball rivals; I deliberately typed "suffer". However you omit another sympton of the current milieu: the "instant coffee" expectation of people. Instant gratification in other words. So to succeed, you must succeed at once. People are not patient. That is an important factor when trying to get a community feeling. Once you have success, you can buy a little time with it (as Hudd has done) but it runs out. Putting the words success and Salford in the same sentence ... and I've being supporting them for over 50 years.
Of the three, HKR would survive best in Championship but I want none of us to go down.

| I remeber when I used to have nothing against Salford. They were a team of hard workers with the likes of Alker or players with a lot of potential and seemingly no means to keep them, Myler, Ratchford. The Willows was a quirky old ground, but the whole set up was honest.
Then the Doc came in and most things changed. You had a team of mercenaries, playing in a soulless ground (don't get me wrong understand you needed to leave the Willows). Obviously the Doctor lead some fans to have illusions of grandeur and hasn't helped anyone's perception by the way he's approached the game. Though it is kind of ironic that for most of this season he seemed to do everything right in terms of taking a step back, and when the ish hit the fan from his previous meddling he reverted to type.

Are you serious ?
To raise the amount of cash needed to fill the void, if someone like Koucash walked away would be huge.
Part of the problem at Salford is the size of the fan base and quite frankly, it's just not possible to raise the necessary monies to sustain them in the top flight.
They are stuck with a very expensive stadium (rumored to cost them 60k per game) which is away from Salford itself and at this point in time they need someone with deep pockets
Even in SL they are losing money. This could only be worse IF they ended up playing in the Championship.

| I sooner Leigh didn't get promoted to be honest.
I can't stand the coach or the owner.

I understand you saying about football been a rival to Salford getting the kids interested early in Salford must be hard I don't think Hudds should have that problem there only competing with a championship side whereas we have another SL team to compete with and a premiership football club in the same city

Do you even know who our coach is this season?
If so I would love to know what your issue is with him?

As much as I hate Cas, their academy is (annoyingly) in a completely different league to Salford's.
