Quote: melman "I think the BIG HITS in the Championship, he will certainly receive, will undoubtedly be the most frightening aspect for him of coming to Leigh and R/L here. I mean the NRL has no BIG hitters therein, does it?

I didn't say anything about being "frightened", but your sarcastic tone is duly noted.

I said he would need to be fully fit. If he comes half baked he might get a shock, there are many Aussies that have.

I actually hope he does well, it might shake things up a bit.

Well in SL it was one all, you did us in the cup ( just ) a couple of years back, I remember watching Fulhams 1 st match at Hilton park, Gordon McQueen,Brian Glover and some other famous actor/playright in the crowd, you probably beat us, so revenge will be ours icon_biggrin.gif

I cannot understand the negativity associated with this signing. It's a great coup for Leigh - the off-field benefits alone are imense and his signing will pay for itself in increased gate receipts. It's a win-win for Leigh and good luck to them I say.

Sad to see championship clubs going back to the days of boom or bust big money overseas players, in a desperate bid for promotion.

Bring back franchising.

Quote: JEAN CAPDOUZE "Oh, I forgot to mention that Leigh doesn't even have a train station. That will be terribly inconvenient for away fans, most of whom won't bother to show up at Leigh Sports Vilage, no matter how many pies and pasties they have on offer at the food outlets. This is a working class game, and the working class likes to travel by train, not by car!'"

Presumably the fact that there are in excess of 33,000,000 vehicles currently travelling Britains role has escaped your attention, some are even owned and driven, by working class people too!

C'mon you can do better than that, what a silly and purile statement to make.

OOOOh you are a bit tetchy. Sorry if you took it poorly, but sarcasm was unintended, criticism being more appropriate.
I thought that you were implying that he will be coming to a game far more robust than he will have witnessed ever before, the tone of your post struck ME that way. In what you seem to have taken umbridge at was not in any manner intended to be sarcasm, I simply thought that you were having a dig and, actually, being flippant.

Not "tetchy", just bored of people who skim (rather than actually read) posts, get the wrong end of the stick, then reply to something that was not there.

I simply said "if he does not come fully fit he might get a shock". Fairly honest statement and easy to understand.

I wasn't even suggesting he would do that but I could point to many NRL "names" who have come here either unfit, uninterested or both and found life hard.

The whole thrust of my post was to show how good he could be for your club if he wants to, I even used the example of Joe Grima for us.

If you think that's me being flippant or having a dig then you must live in a strange world icon_wink.gif

Just to emphasise it AGAIN and in case you miss it, I HOPE HE DOES WELL.

Yes, it's obviously much better to watch SL clubs squander money they don't have and go millions into debt reliant on a sugar daddy to constantly bail them out icon_wink.gif

Quote: JEAN CAPDOUZE "But having Leigh in Super League won't make Super League more interesting and won't help the RFL improve its feeble and deficient revenue stream any time soon. In fact it will more likely hinder the situation. London, Bradford and Toulouse need to be in Super League, not pathetically obscure Leigh, if rugby league is to improve its standing with sponsors, the media, and the general public in both England and France.'"

Complete tripe.......

A succesful London, Bradford and Toulouse would make SL attractive, not the nomadic and bankrupt London and Bradford of the last 5 years adding no value to a stale and some what dying division.

The notion of big city teams needing to be in the top divisions of any sport are just nonsense...... other wise.... in the premier league surely ::::::: Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Carlisle, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham must all be in and kick out those little suburban clubs list C Palace, Bolton, Wigan, Barnsley, Blackburn, Middlesbrough to name just a few....

Just maybe if the RFL had a clear marketing strategy then just maybe irrelevant of who the teams and locations are in the best division in the northern hemisphere we might just get blue chip sponsors and not sign TV deals going in to the next decade.

Not to mention if numpty fans didnt put the game down at every opportunity we might just grow....

enjoy your RL where ever and who ever you support. Try a visit to the suburb of Wigan in 2016.... ill personally show you round the areas!!!
