Quote: JonB95 "I note that you were happy to avoid historical context last year whilst crowds were down, but now you are suddenly far more interested in it since they are rising again.

I will be comparing to last year and last year alone. So far this weekend, 2 of 3 Super League crowds have shown an increase on the same fixture from last season, whilst the World Club Challenge crowd was the largest since the 2009 edition.'"

Make that two out of four, London down by around forty percent, but on such low figures it won't have much affect overall.

not in numbers it won't, but in PERCENTAGES it will icon_wink.gif icon_wink.gif

London will concede more points this year than today's attendance.......it is a straight race for 13th between Wakey and Bradford!

Not in overall percentages. Only in percentages for the London team, but in combined attendances for the league it will have less of an impact.

As with all statistics, it depends who's doing the maths. Combine the crowds then work out the percentages = small effect. Work out the percentages then combine those = massive difference.

Is their an exam at the end of the season?

London will average less than 2k this year.......there are some very strange posters on their forum at the moment trying to put a positive spin on that gate yesterday??????

Quote: William Eve "How did I avoid the historical context last year when I included the cumulative attendance totals at the end of each round for every SL season from 2009 onwards?

That's entirely up to you. If anyone would like further historical context applied to your more limited figures on any particular occasion, they may request them from me.

Which is usually the case in the early rounds as opening fixtures of the season are among the best attended.

Not sure what relevance an Australian attendance has to Super League attendances but a more like-for-like comparison between WCC attendances in Australia would note that today's attendance of 31,515 was 41.88% lower than the attendance for the Brisbane V Wigan WCC game in 1994 during the pre-SL era.'"

I am referring to the fact that you never gave the previous 5 years' attendances last season, but now you suddenly are in a desperate attempt to prove that this years crowds are not as good as they seem.

Spot a problem with those two sentences?

The London v Salford crowd included around 400 Salford fans. If we'd have taken our usual 150 there then the crowd would have been sub-1000. Really sad to London in such a state at present.

Decent ground and set up for anyone heading down this year though.

- Interesting to see Featherstone's marquee fixture scoring a crowd of (only) 2,583. I will assume this is the number of fans they will be expecting to draw if/when they make the Super League...

- London's crowd of a meagre 1,200 was (according to reports) supplemented by over 400 Salford fans. Quite a worry for the season ahead.

- It will be interesting to see whether or not Wakefield's crowds will pick up once the stadium returns to full capacity. Their first home game of the season saw an almost 50% (not 100% icon_lol.gif ) drop on the same fixture last year.

Are you sure the stats are being done right. If the crowd was 10,000 last year and this year it's 5,000, surely that's a 50% drop? A 100% drop would imply the crowd was zero in year 2.

A drop of 100% would be zero. By my reckoning the drop was 49.9%.

Yep, and London's only a forty percent drop.

Good attendance at Huddersfield though, perhaps it's finally sunk in they've got a decent team.
