Quote: gutterfax "Ah.,.....so his response to sweeping incorrect statements using facts isn't to your liking then? If the more insecure posters amongst us weren't so hell bent on making themselves look stupid, then Billy would be out of a job. I for one enjoy his statistical posts.

He doesn't offer contradictions......unlike your good self.

Which is it? Either you care or you don't?

Then....and this is pretty clever, you compare the 2 Leeds clubs but almost childishly dismiss the Harlequins clubs and the 2 sharing the stadium near Manchester because they most assuredly don't suit your point of view.
No he's using facts that make assumptions. If your going to bring stats into it, at least factor in some kind of influence over figures, otherwise you literally have to include every attendance at every sport in the world, as only then can the conditions be quantifiably fair.

Hence I don't care about union vs league attendance debates.

I do find stats interesting, and when compared properly do offer insight. As you noticed, the ones it said can be used were those who shared grounds (as one can assume the same factors influence both sets of fans) - I wasn't dismissive of harlequins. I said ru clearly and brutally won. I offered some explanation as to why that was and moved on? The reason I wasn't fond on comparing sale is they supposedly (aka I read on the internet) are having trouble with fans saying moving to Salford changes the identity of the club or some other rubbish. So in that instance the very location of the stadium can be considered a factor to be factored in.

If you want me to do some quant analysis for you, by all means get in touch with my company and I'll make em show anything you want, but I'm not doing it on here now, it's what I'm paid to do. But, I will say a couple of things

A) any unciphoned data means nothing to everyone. If your in marketing you should know that.

B) as I finished my last post. The numbers posted prove more people occur in an area where professional rugby union is occurring. The rest is conjecture. I suppose it depends if your arguing "league vs union whose doing better getting quantity through the door?" Or "league vs union whose doing better?" - though the answer technically neither, American football (which is also a spin off of rugby) is kicking both behinds.

Oh great, another RL v RU attendance thread. The year's not even 3 weeks old and we already have about 400 of them.

Quote: William Eve "Home attendance averages last completed season (SL 2013 & Aviva Premiership 2012-13)
1. Leicester Tigers - 256,687/11
2. Harlequins - 219,631/11
3. Saracens - 200,871/11
4. Leeds Rhinos - 197,556/13
5. Wigan - 189,084/13
'"

I was bored and could only be d doing it for the one club but after taking out the "event" matches for Saracens their average drops to just over 9.5k. That's quite a drop.

Do those Leeds & Wigan att include magic weekend figures (not divided by 8 or whatever agenda we're working to this week) or don't we count event matches at all?

I must be bored.

Remove the Harlequins "event" game at Twickenham and their average drops to well under 14k. Another huge drop which leaves 2 of the top 3 supported rugby clubs in England coming from SL.

You're welcome.

Manipulated stat do, but actual attendances speak a different language. Event games are the way to go.....ask the NRL or wen the organisers of RLWC 2013.
The fact that Saracens and quins can attract 80k to regular season games should be proof enough of the appetite and Te benefits of these EVENTS.

Wine drinker. A wino is a wine drinker. One you would associate with the effluent classes. Barolo to Lambrini, Champagne to QC – it's all vino.

‘Middle England’ is like a Chateauneuf du Pape. Values itself highly despite being a mishmash of mediocrity with little substance.

Just call me Jilly.

Back to the opening question. Not a lot by the looks of it. Ibi Ali was one of the soldiers who has just completed 'walking with the wounded' trip to Antarctica with Prince Harry. He was a member of the Staffordshire Uni RL team. Good man and ticks all the boxes the RL should be looking to use pr wise

To summarise.....

Insecure supporters of Super League slag off Rugby Union attendances at club level saying they are crap.

The following facts are thusly established...

Super League Total & Average (2013)
Aviva Premiership Total & Average (2012-13)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aviva Premiership attendances 47.17% higher than Super League
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Insecure supporters of Super League cry FOUL!!! by claiming that Aviva Premiership attendances include 'EVENT' attendances.

So' EVENT' attendances of 186,151 are excluded and Aviva Premiership attendances are still 34% higher than in Super League.

Super League Total & Average (2013)
Aviva Premiership Total & Average (2012-13)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aviva Premiership Total & Average (2012-13)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aviva Premiership attendances 33.73% higher than Super League.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then another insecure supporter of modern day Super League pops up complaining the comparative stats are still skewed because 'MAGIC WEEKEND' attendances of 62,042 have not been included.

So let's include the Magic Weekend attendances shall we?

Super League Total & Average (2013)
PLUS Magic Weekend attendances (2013)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Super League Total & Average (2012-13)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aviva Premiership Total & Average (2012-13)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aviva Premiership Total & Average (2012-13)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aviva Premiership attendances 33.56% higher than Super League.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing insecure (or modern) about me i'm afraid, fan of the game for 33 years. The clue's in the name.
People who twist and make up facts & figures continuously to suit some lame online persona/agenda are the ones with problems.

Thanks for confirming you included RU "event" attendances but "forgot" to include similar RL games too.
Nothing surprising there though eh. How about we exclude those events for obvious and much discussed reasons then re-do your table? You probably already did though and again for obvious reasons you've decided to go another way with twisting your stats....

Here's the top 3 for you just in case..
Leicester
Leeds
Wigan

Now how about those made up Word Cup ticket sales claims? Anything to back them up yet or do we just pretend you never said it?
