I got a feeling they wanted to carry on were Samoa finish off yesterday but Ireland really couldn't get involved in that

| Quote: NickyKiss "Just got back to the car and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a terrific occasion with both teams having good support (The vast majority were supporting Fiji though). The game was brutal in that first half but Fiji did overstep the mark on more then one occasion.
This World Cup really has got off to a terrific start though. The organisers must be thrilled.'"
Must admit when I first read that games would be staged at the likes of Rochdale & Workington I thought it seemed Mickey Mouse, but now it seems inspired. They may not be the flashiest of grounds, but seeing full grounds is much better than seeing a better stadium half-empty.

| I thought Fiji dominated the game and deserved to win.
Ireland never gave up but were well beaten in the forwards and had nothing to offer in attack. Mendeika and Finn were poor, not surprising behind a beaten pack, but no excuse when attacking.
I loved the physical collisions but thought Fiji went completely OTT at times. It looks like they will try to disrupt England and the Aussies forwards in the same way.

| Brett White is a well known grub and sledger.
He put a high shot on Korbin Sims early in the game and would have had a lot to say about it, as is his way.
The Sims brothers are all known as guys who will go toe to toe in a forward battle, and as usual White bit off more than he could chew.
To be honest, White and the Sims brothers are all pretty similar players - but it was three on one in this game.

| Just got back, Not quite as good as last night but another brutal match. Ireland where pretty poor at times though, Didn't really offer anything going forward. I'm surprised it took nearly the whole first half before fiji had a player binned though. I like a good physical game but I think they went a bit ott. Had a good evening though, Nice little stadium.

Ireland looked a decent side and could probably win against half the sides in the Cup, but they are going home with three hidings this year due to their unfortunate draw.

| Disappointed really with Ireland. They tried hard but they just lacked quality all over the field.
Their pack was pretty young and got battered really. Although I thought O'Carroll was pretty immense for Ireland.
Mendieka and Finn offered absolutely no threat what so ever. A backline of Blanch, Littler, another centre I've never heard of and Richards is hardly going to set the world alight.
I'd expect England and Australia to beat both fairly easily. It will be interesting who Fiji play in the QFs.
Great crowd though, brilliant to get a stadium record. Atmosphere was as electric as last night but still an enjoyable evening.

| It was always going to be a big ask to beat last night, but it was another thoroughly enjoyable evening, love this tournament! I know there had been a lot of talk about the Fijian community in Rochdale, but I had no idea that there were so many of them!

| Awesome brutal game!! Fiji didn't just hit hard, they defended their line superbly. Ireland had a lot of repeat sets on fiji's line.
Great atmosphere and the Fijians in the ground were having the time of their lives!

| I think the conditions were definitely a leveller in this one. Play this game in fine weather, on a hard pitch, and Ireland get 50+ put past them.
Can't wait for Fiji to play England now, see how the Burgess bros go against those monster Fijian forwards!
Also loving the hymn before kick-off, the calm before the storm

| fijis indiscipline would have seen them lose to a better opponent, Im surprised Bentham kept his card in his pocket as long as he did.

Jeez roopy your fiji hat was so well nailed on you must have struggled to get it off this morning!!
Whites dodgy swinging arm was in about the fourth minuite and fiji scored not long after, their second try was very lucky too, I thought the fijian 9 dropped it before he got his foot to it and fiji got a lucky call IMO, even though that was never gonna decide the game.
all that happened before Fiji lost it, all that started when Sims dug Hassan on the ground, when they did they let Ireland back in with numerous piggy back pens an there could have been a hatful more that Bentham didnt give.
Fijians were their own worst enemy all game. They played the typical Island game with brains left in the changing room and it took the withdrawl of one of the sims ( I think he took a knock from a poorly timed tackle) and the Ireland try on about 25mins to make the game a rugby match again.
