You've just summed-up Whiting in one perfect soundbite. He's dependable and solid. That's it. I agree with you. If you listen to some Hull fans, and a couple of of Sky commentators, he makes Ellery Hanley look like pooh.
Please be aware, the thread says overated. I think he is. He's far from crap, but he's nowhere near the plaudits he gets'"
Oooh you've done it now lefty. They won't like that at all!!!!!!!!!

| Michael McIlorum. Overrated sh*thouse. At least Newton, Bailey, Hock had talent to back up their thuggery.

I've got to agree with this. Whiting is a pretty good club player, but he's currently got Eddie having multiples whenever he gets the ball.
Overrated doesn't mean bad.

| I agree with the comments about Whiting in this section. He is a very solid player hardly makes a mistake but if he was as good as the FC/sky people say he is wouldn't he have a set place in the team (apart from starting on the bench) Great players generally have one position. Whiting will play were others are injured and fits in.

| If whiting had pace he would be one of the finest players in this country. Rarely makes a mistake, scores try's, can play multiple positions, great defence. Been arguably Hull's best aquisition in the past decade because of the consistency he brings to the team.
Cant understand the Mcilorum knockers to be honest. Good hard player, could do without the dirty stuff though.

| Although we are being linked with him.
Not quite sure why Tom Briscoe is so highly rated.

Well if he does go to you and you get the chance to see him week in week out then you will see why.
I've had the pleasure of watching him since he was 16 years old. He does plenty of highlight reel stuff but his real strength is his ability to carry the ball from the back. Unbelievably strong in collision for his size.

Believe me, he's far from that when he plays for you.
Top class player and fantastic to watch. He plays the game on the edge and its a pleasure to watch him getting stuck in to opposition forwards.
People talk about him in the same breath as Ryan Bailey but this lad isn't just a wind up merchant like Bailey who picks fights and runs away. He plays tough but fair (mostly) and he's more then willing to back up any talk.
He's a bit of a throw back in style and a game that seems to be getting a lot of its physicality taken away from it via the rule makers needs a player like McIlorum.

your right most utility players can't hold down a place because they are just solid and nothing else but Whiting is an intelligent footballer and stands out in every position, never gives a bad pass , dominates collisions offloads makes breaks scores tries and does it week in week out the complete player. I would have him in a Cas shirt in a nanosecond.

| Quote: CM Punk "I'd disagree with McIlorum and Myler there. Myler has really improved this season, McIlorum performs his role very well.'"
McIlorum ruins himself with poor discipline and how easy he loses his rag. I don't agree with the Sky hype when Roby, Clark, Henderson, Lunt, Hodgson, Monaghan, Houghton and Higham are all better hookers. As for Myler, his support play is very good, but it seems as though he doesn't do much aside from popping up on the end of breaks,

yes but he's a hooker, there needs to be more to his game if he wants to be a quality modern hooker. I don't want an England 9 being all about tackling and bashing people.

| Richard Myler came up with 23 try assists this season and spent long periods of it out injured. Not bad for a player who "doesn't do much aside from popping up on the end of breaks" eh?
