BUT HOW HAVE YOU DRAGGED THIS THREAD FROM WIGAN WINNING THE CHALLENGE CUP TO WE WOULDN'T MAKE IT IN THE NRL? your pervious ratings of players doesn't say much for you so as a wigan fan who watches the NRL every weekend i'm not to worried about your expert opinion.'"
I am talking about [icurrent[/i form, not some hypothetical possible form that we might see in the future.
I dragged this thread about Wigan winning the Challenge Cup into a comparison with NRL clubs, to suggest how unimpressive Wigan's CC win was. A team that was of world class (capable of competing with the top NRL clubs) would have scored more tries against a woeful, error-riddled Hull FC team than the miserly two Wigan managed to scrape up.
I think that Warrington and Huddersfield, at full strength, and perhaps Leeds, St. Helens, and Catalans, could match it with the top NRL clubs (though they would all surely lose to the current top 3on current form [/iWigan would be beaten decisively by any of the NRL's top 8.

Wigan's only attacking weapons are the back 3, and the two wingers don't have many opportunities to break free. So it's down to Sam Tomkins to break the opposing defensive line. The centres are mediocre and so are the halves.
Take a look at the top 8 of the NRL. And let's just confine it to the bottom 4 of the top 8. Each club has several exciting attacking options. For example the North Queensland backs are outstanding
Let's compare to Newcastle or Cronulla or Canterbury - all has plethora of exciting backs (sic) Lui!! Tate!!! Linnett!!! are you on drugs? You have been watching Albert King or Kris Keating too much.

Wigan did as little as was required - if they had needed to up their game they would done - the simply played well within themselves.

I disagree with that. Wigan looked just as they have been looking in the league for a few weeks now. They were fortunate to be playing a Hull team who lost their collective nerve. (Except for Jamie Shaul who I thought was impressive given that he was the youngest and least experienced player on the pitch)

I disagree - Wigan played it very safe and well within their skill set - sadly that was all that was required

| Not the greatest spectacle in the world, But with such heavy rainfall all day it was never going to be a day for skill or flare.
Wigan did what they needed to do. Matty Smith kicked Hull of the park and tactically where the better side.
I'd say I'm really sorry and gutted that the neutrals didn't enjoy todays game, But I'd be lying We won and that's all that I care about. After the way we've played the last few weeks I was worried this morning, but lockers coming back made a massive difference and Hull just couldn't keep hold of the ball. Had the scores been reversed I'm pretty sure this thread wouldn't be here.

| Not sure what some fans were expecting given the conditions...
Hull just didn't make us work hard enough for the win but if Charnley hadn't saved a certain try, i think we could have struggled. Credit to Hull they had Tomkins in their pocket for most of the game and on the whole their defensive gameplan worked really well. They just dropped way too much ball when they were in good positions...

I think it would have been, it was a poor game. You need to shake off that Wigan arrogance.

| This is a funny funny thread.
Honestly, what did people expect in those conditions? That was the first rainy CC Final in 18 years - not just wet, the rain was atrocious at times. And yes, those Rhino balls are f*cking terrible in the wet (not even that good in the dry).
It was always going to be an error-strewn and physical contest, as wet games normally are.
Wigan simply played the conditions better and were outstanding in defence, and Smith's kicking game was as good as I've seen at Wigan for a long time. Hull, for their part, showed superb defence for the most, defending repeat sets several times, and effectively marked Tomkins out the game. Unfortunately they turned over far too much ball and were never going to win with such poor completion.
On another note, I thought Bentham and the officials had very good games.

Wigan arrogance?
we've been far from great lately but played the conditions brilliantly today. I don't really know what people expect in those conditions. We should have done what we did in the quarters and semi and put 70+ on the scoreboard..... Would have been a real no spectacle then wouldn't it?
It's not our fault Hull couldn't keep hold of the ball. Wigan did what they needed to do today and won the game.
do you really think I'm bothered if you think it was a "poor" game in the pouring down rain?
keep it coming, please

Interesting; Jean Capdouze cannot speak a word of French. Ecoutez Jean? Damo-Leeds struggles with English.....
