Oh I see, so you only get the luxury of playing garbage for a third of the season and still play in the world cup if the team you play for is successful.

| Leeds played well for mor than a third of the season last year, they won a WCC, got to the final of the CC and won the SL title.
Look Brough is a good player but to make him out to be the saviour for England is just ridiculous. I'm presuming people want him in instead of Sinfield (as they play a similar role)? Which is equally ridiculous

| Not being Scottish would help Brough's case for England selection

| Not being a 30 year old mid-table player who hasn’t put a season together in his career and was bombed out of the only decent sized club he played for would help aswell

I think the point people are making is that they can't work out how he's not in the 30 man squad. Like I said earlier, best hope Sinfield doesn't get injured otherwise we've no kicking game.
Brough is the most natural half back out of the 4 selected. He is a superb kicker, organiser, good foot work, fast and a decent tackler. He has so much to his game.
Personally I'd go 6. Widdop (if in form) 7. Brough and let Sinfield do the organising from 13.
I just think 6. Sinfield 7. Myler/Chase/Mcguire 13.O'loughlin makes us so slow and one dimensional.

| Im not a Brough lover, but it annoys me how English RL fans write a player off because they wernt superstars as a kid. Some players develop later in life. Im not just on about this instance, but with everyone.
Another example is Danny Mcguire. People still see McGuire as a 1 trick pony at Leeds because when he was 21 he scored a heap of tries running off the shoulder. He is the most creative player at Leeds now and a massive reason they have been so good over the past few years.
Get over preconceptions and let the game move on.

| He isn’t great is the answer. Brough doesn’t demand a place in the side. He isn’t a great defender, he can get lost in games and he can go missing and whilst he might something to look at if Sinfield was injured, if he isn’t Brough offers nothing to a side which Sinfield doesn’t offer better and Sinfield is a far superior defender to Brough.

| The Albert Goldthorpe medal is a terrible measure of quality. The same type of player wins it every year

Of course Sinfields never gone missing in games. Brough offers a lot more pace than Sinfield.
Anyway it's pointless comparing them two as Sinfields nailed on for the 6 shirt. But I'd choose Brough over the the other 3.

| We have pace throughout the side. Sinfield rarely goes missing in games, he is pretty much famed for his big-game mentality. Brough on the other hand follows the same path pretty much every year, start of the year everyone raves about him asking why he isnt in the England squad end of the year when the biggest games happen and the best players come to the fore Brough is nowhere to be seen.
Brough gets a pass because of the teams he has played for, when he is great its all down to him and when he is poop its because of his pack or because of everyone else. There is a very valid reason that a 23 year old half back was released from a team which was challenging and the bigger sides didnt take him seriously as an option he lacks consistency, isnt a great defender and isnt a great player.
There are plenty of half-back combinations I would see before pinning our hopes on a 30 year old who has played in 1 final in his career and that was 8 years ago.

Must be, there's no Kevin Sinfield.
Best player in the world, you know.
