The extent of his coaching is ''BASH EM, JUST F*CKING BASH EM. HE'S LOW ON CONFIDENCE, BASH HIM''
He's a limited coach that won't last long term.[/quote:8f22o6ue]
....
That would make Wigan strong favourites then. With Ratchford at FB and Patton with Cronk in the halves, I think we'll do very well without Sam.[/quote:8f22o6ue]: |

| Quote: Side Burns "Tomkins is a great player, but these stats are ridiculous. Roby topped every stat available last year and didn't win it. If stats were accurate, Phil Clarke would be entertaining...
FWIW I think the Man Of Steel, the person to have the biggest impact on the Super League in 2012, should be Mick Potter. Massive, massive, massive respect for a coach who can guide an average squad to the brink of the playoffs in normal circumstances, take away 6 points and 4 months wages and the guy should have a statue outside Odsal (subject to funding)'"
That's not even close to being true though is it.
5 try's (top was 26)
18 try assists (joint 10th)
71 tackle busts (joint 7th, 98 behind first)
He did makes the most meters, but his meters per carry was 5.27
To put that into perspective tomkins was 7.7 meters per carry, Graham was 7.05, lynch 6.6, mcgilvery 9.2 and a hell of a lot more players with more meters per carry. (Lima had 20th most meters, but 7.3 meters per carry, all but chase in the top 20 meter makers had around the same amount of carries, and therefore a better meters per carry)
14 clean breaks put Roby in joint 23rd place in that ranking.
His work rate is exceptional as shown by his tackling (only second to houghton! With henderson not far behind at all, what this shows is the 3 hookers that play 80mins each week were all pretty consistent with the amount of tackles ,1060, 1032 1019 tackles respectively)
I'm not saying Roby isn't a brilliant player, I think he is amazing. But I don't like these sort of comments that people just say and people just believe. Roby was mr st Helen's last season, without him they would really have struggled, but he did not top every stat at all, infact many he was upside the top 10.

| As much as I hate to say it, Danny Houghton has been great this year. He came back from a few weeks out with injury and ripped us apart. Regularly playing 80 minutes too, hats off to the lad.

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

Do you think Tomkins would have looked as good this year if he was playing for London?
Wigan generally have most of the ball when they play and there pack is always on the front foot giving Tomkins the opportunity to do what he does best more often than any other player in SL.
Tomkins couldnt be close to MoS if he played for London or Widnes because the opposition would generally have most of the ball and he would be playing for a team with a pack thats going backwards. He would be defending most of the time and do what he does worst catching high kicks and not have the opportunity to shine as much as he does know!!
Brent Webb would have looked good in the Wigan team this year!!

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| Pints of bitter all round here, laughable thread. Every fan would love to have Sam playing for their team, and anybody who denies this is just making themselves look silly. He is far and away, currently, the best player in the league!!!
Credit to those mentioning Potter and Menzies...... Oh, I hear that Sinfield is in for some sort of refereeing award

"Leeds is the greatest club in Rugby League"
Alex Murphy 2011: |
|
| Quote: Wigan Peer "Oh, I hear that Sinfield is in for some sort of refereeing award
No he isn't but he'll be picking up a medal at Wembley in 2 weeks time thanks to Ratboy Tomkins who gifted us the first 16 points in the semi final. Tomkins is a flat track bully who has failed miserably in his last few big games against decent teams. He was like a turnstile against St Helens in the 2 playoff games last september and capped that by dropping anything and everything against Australia in the Four Nations Final. He hasn't fared much better this season when it really matters and was the weak link against Leeds in the semi. Did nowt today and is well overrated despite all the hype. We'll let you polish the hubcap and just laugh at you when the big trophies and medals are shared by other bigger teams.

You cant play well if your forwards or backs forgot how to pass, tackle, keep hold of the ball.

What award would that be? or is it just a lazy jibe at an opposition player.
As for Man of Steel. i would go with tomkins he is brilliant.
Though i would like to see two awards one for a forward and one for a back.
