| Good luck to Ellis and good luck to Hull. Great player.
That said, Leeds once signed Ellery Hanley. We didn't win a trophy. Warrington once signed Allan Langer and they didn't win owt either.
Leeds won a trophy, actually won quite a few, by building a team around our Academy players. There's three of them competing for back row positions right now, 2 are internationals. There's another yet to make his debut called Stevie Ward who is a bit special.
We won a super league title before Ellis, we won a couple after him.
I can understand Hull fans excitement about signing a great player but they're losing a little perspective here.
I suppose I'll be considered a bitter Leeds fan for not conceding the 2013 SL title to Hull but there you go.

Maybe I've missed it but has any Hull fan said the signing of Ellis alone means that Hull will be up at the top of the league challenging let alone actually winning the competition? All ive seen is a group of fans rightly excited by a fantastic signing while recognising that further improvements to the squad will be necessary to be serious contenders. It's fans of other clubs (mainly Leeds) that seem to have imagined all these Hull fans claiming the SL title might as well be handed over now.

It's also mainly Leeds fans dismissing the signing as us overpaying a 31 year old that they don't need.
Funny, that

| TBH, I have to agree with the Leeds fans who say they don't really need Ellis (and as a Bradford fan, finding myself agreeing with a Leeds fan is quite a shock this early in the morning).
Yes, Ellis is a great player who'd improve any 2nd row in SL. But he'll be wanting a pretty big slice of the salary cap. So, if Leeds did re-sign him they'd likely be in a position similar to Bradford when they signed Harris, ie 1 player taking a very large wage and that being a detriment to holding on to other players in the side who may want improved deals to stay that the club cannot afford due to salary cap constraints.

I dont know where people are getting this from. Ellis agent has said he wont even be Hulls top paid player, infact hes expected to be on less than 90% of the first team squad.

Funny, that
Leeds fans are saying exactly the same as they said when the news broke that he was coming back to SL - he's a great player that would improve any SL side but it happens that backrow is not a position that we particularly need to strengthen. He also happens to be older and would almost certainly command a higher salary than any of our existing back row.
The only funny thing is the Hull fans (and trolls) are trying to make something of it.

He will be on big money, and rightly so.
However, seems like we will soon be adding to this signing:

| Can someone show me where Hull fans have said they're going to win everything once GE arrives. The common thread seems to be that he is a "statement of intent" and that quite rightly fans are excited about his arrival and not "gloating" as some on here think.

| I like the tone of Hull's Chairman's statement. Strong teams start at the top.

| FC fans had better hope they win something quickly - Pearson's recent history suggests he's not one to stick around for the long term.

But previously it wasnt his money that he had invested, he was the front man for a richer backer at Hull City etc.
He could have bought Hull years ago and nobody else has made a bid, so even if he did want out, it would be bloody hard for him to

Why is it funny?
Did we need him in 2011, 2009 or 2004?
