50086_1357229109.jpg [b:33tg3xj5]Me:[/b:33tg3xj5] I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
[b:33tg3xj5]knockersbumpMKII:[/b:33tg3xj5] Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_50086.jpg |

What was the £700k spent on?

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

Oh it's much more than £700K , at least another £100K plus to pay the wages till the season ends , then potentially a contribution to the pension fund plus a few hundred grand more when they played in Bridgend , probably closer to 2 million overall
Most if it spent on paying Australian RL players , good eh ?

| Quote: SmokeyTA "Why is it a farce that a club you dont think was ready was judged not ready? it seems exactly as you would want.
and yes, of course, its the fact we actually paid somebody to do a proper job and provide us with the needed information which is the problem. Maybe if we had paid some rubbish accountants to tell us things which were wrong which is the problem.'"
So they paid proper accountants to do a proper job , but only found out that they were unsustainable the day before the licence decision ?
Or did the RFL just blindly ignore what they were told and just crossed their fingers behind their backs and hoped somebody would ride to the rescue at the last minute ?
Marvelous

I see - he's on about the loan. For a minute I thought he was on about the application!
The £700k is secured on the stadium, wouldn't worry too much about that.

So a couple of million less the £700K which they might get back , one day , sounds brilliant to me

| Quote: Nat (Rugby_Aholic) "Yes, we ran out of money and had to put out a weakened team. The result of this was that we got relegated. Went back to the drawing board and built a strong club in a poor division with little income.
Wakey ran out of money and currently have a weakened team. The result of this? Another three years in the top division.'"
You forgot about this
"In August 2006 Halifax RLFC was on the verge of going bust. The club announced that it needed to raise £90,000 otherwise it would go into liquidation. Rugby league fans nationwide rallied behind 'Fax', and through visits to the ground, during home fixtures, and other fund-raising events, were able to raise £55,000. Former Chairman Howard Posner then came forward and announced that he would loan the club the remaining £35,000 in order to keep Halifax RLFC alive. This ensured that Halifax RLFC would be playing in National League One during 2007."
I went to the 5,000 fans to save fax only a couple of thousand did as the public of hailfax were too busy drinking in the towns bars.

Probably about as well as the Crusaders , but then again some on here seem to keep forgetting that somebody always has to finish bottom

| If the gap between SL and the championship was made smaller then it could happen but it has been the RFLs intention over the years to let the gap increase so it has made it nearly impossible. SL can sustain it's self at the moment without the expansion clubs. It's the championships that need all the help. When the Championships have gone to the wall that will be the ultimate mistake that these tools will have made and SLs demise will rapidly follow.

| That's not been the RFLs intention at all
It's been the failing of Championship clubs that they didn't keep up, for the most part.

Well obviously not but if Crusaders hadn't have got in and Halifax, widnes or Leigh got the nod (for example) who's to say they would not have failed just as spectactuarly?

| Rugby League=The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Super League clubs are like French Aristocrats before the Revolution.
The same result would be justice...
