Many times. What is your point?
The fact that Cronulla have been on borrowed time for too long has no bearing on PNG's bid does it?
Cronulla are a throwback and would have probably been gone by now if it were not for the SL War.
They will not be around in another decade.
I see your points for PNG's inclusion.
Much of it is pie in the sky, many teams have promised to build stadiums I believe, only a few have delivered.
Sponsors are not locked in until they put their money down and talk is cheap.
The Government does not have any money, they are broke and rely on handouts from aid and Mining royalties.
Who is financing the Stadium?
John Ribots Super League "vision" delivered on how much of its promises to make Rugby League a "World" game played in a major way in the USA? Do you believe all of the spin you are fed?
Australian Government travel advice for PNG.
[iWe advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in Papua New Guinea because of the high levels of serious crime.
Pay close attention to your personal security at all times and monitor the media for information about possible new safety or security risks.
Crime rates are high, particularly in the capital Port Moresby and in Lae, Mt Hagen and other parts of the Highland provinces.
Following recent murders in the town of Popondetta in Oro Province, law and order has deteriorated. The potential for more violence exists. Travel to Popondetta, and on the road between Popondetta and Kokoda, may be dangerous. You should be extremely vigilant when travelling in and around Popondetta.
In June 2011, there were a number of recent violent incidents in Central and Southern Bougainville. You should exercise a high degree of caution when travelling in Bougainville, with particular vigilance when travelling beyond Buka into Central and Southern Bougainville.
Ethnic disputes continue to flare up around the country. Disputes can quickly escalate into violent clashes. Such clashes not only create danger within the immediate area but also promote a general atmosphere of lawlessness, with an associated increase in opportunistic crime.
Large crowds and public gatherings should be avoided as they may turn violent.
Car-jacking is an ever-present threat, particularly in Port Moresby and Lae. Car doors should be locked with windows up at all times and caution should be taken when travelling after dark. In the evening or at night, we recommend you travel in a convoy.
There have been a small number of high profile kidnappings for ransom.
A cholera outbreak continues in PNG and the number of affected regions around the country is expanding. The PNG National Department of Health has confirmed cases of cholera in Morobe Province, Madang Province, East Sepik, West Sepik, Southern Highlands, National Capital District (Port Moresby), and in Daru, Western Province. See the Health Issues section for more information.
Wet season is from November to May. During the wet season flooding and landslides have resulted in deaths. Roads can become impassable. Check with local sources on the condition of roads and the likely impact of rain before travel.
[/i
Finally, in the last few weeks.

From what you've said, we would have to build a secure facility adjoining the playing stadium that would have space for living and training facilites for playing/coaching staff as well as "all inclusive" acommodation for away fans and media. There would also have to be complete segregation in the stadium for visiting fans.
One thing the above would create is a lot of jobs, which seem to be thin on the ground in port moresby, but if the Government are as skint as you say, none of this will be able to go forward. Unless tesco want to open a branch there, of course...

cronulla have survived for 40 years as a poor club, crowds at 12k and a poor leagues club and they are still there ....so as i said if cronulla can do it PNG will shoot it in.
and as i said before this bid is a goer IF all the prmoises are met...
if they arent it isnt.
with their government behind it it stands an excellent chacne down the track if they deliver on these promises
its a shame their stadium will only be 25k and not 70k cause theyd fill that each week.

| oh and to add the melbourne storm will receive an additional $5 million pa from the NRL over other clubs for the next 5 years.
theres nothing stopping the nrl from giving the PNG club similar additional monies for the good of the game
after our next 2 TV deals well be flush with cash for projects like this.

PNG has a viable and sustainable bid RIGHT NOW. They have everything covered in their bid.
And you think New Zealand and Adelaide are going to get a team WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE A BID!
And you call others fantasists. FMD.
You're just like every other ignorant naysayer. You just like to point at the fact that the country is poor, they have problems blah blah blah. And when the bid presents very clear and viable solutions to any problems you just ignore them and trot out the same simplistic, ignorant nonsense about them being poor.
You didn't even know the NRL minimum wage was $55,000. So you have no credibility when you claim they can't support a team. You clearly have no idea what it would take to support an NRL team when you don't even know the pay structure at NRL clubs.
And on top of that you claim that an NRL team will bring no jobs or money to PNG. Once again, if you knew how many jobs an NRL team creates you'd realise how stupid this statement is. Any business turning over millions of dollars a year adds to the economy where it is based. That's just common sense.
And if you have to call on the fans of a dual code club to prove you're not a union troll and that's all you have to go on I'd say your case is very weak indeed. And the fact that Bazza agrees with you weakens it further.

| PNG has a GDP of over $14b and brings in government revenue of about $3b, the cost of running an NRL club is a drop in the ocean.
If the PNG government see this as an opportunity and want the game and their club to act as a focal point for their nation, it would not only be arrogant to turn them down, but idiotic.
With a willing Government there is nothing anyone has said on this thread which would be not only overcome but overcome easily

Does that include making the place safe?
The place is an absolute hole with no foundations or infrastructure to play any Sport at an elite level on a weekly basis at the moment.
Willingness only gets you so far until reality kicks in.

Whilst it is certainly a harsh life for large portions of Papuans lets not pretend its beyond the thunderdome.
