| I wonder what the Wigan fans thought about the pass for O'Loughlin's try today? Just ever so slightly?

| Hmmm.
Anyone watching the Castleford v Leeds match?
Silverwood denies Castleford's Richard Owen a legitimate try saying it was a forward pass, then Leeds go up the other end of the field throw two forward passes and score as they were "not seen by the official" as Stevo would say.

| To be honest, I couldn’t tell definitively on the TV which of those were forward and which were not – they were showed from so many different angles and from some they looked forward and others not
I guess that’s the reason why the video ref isn’t used for forward pass rulings

Stevo is the problem, not the passes.
The passes to Owen were forwards.
The Leeds passes prior to the JJB try were seen by the official, and deemed legal.

| Agreed the camera angles made it rather hard to be definitive. Personally i thought the Ref got all the calls right and the footage didn't help to say otherwise

| Nothing wrong with the Chase-Owen try - ffs, if refs are gonna clamp down can they at least try and get it right? That wasn't even close to being forward.
But yet again, Leeds get away with a load.

| The biggest problem is the momentum pass. A static pass is no problem because the player passes the ball laterally with no forward momentum, this is where the officials can pick up whether it is a forward pass.
The difficult area is the long pass from the player travelling at high speed. For example we are in broken play with the wingers in a forward position on the opposition 10 metre line. The full back has broken through the defence at high speed 20 m.p.h. He releases a high lofted pass from the 20 metre line 0.5 metres backwards towards the touchline, in one second the ball would have 10 metres momentum.
So the winger on the 10 metre line could catch the ball from a backward pass.

I agree, except I thought both passes were OK, as well as the JJB one. How Cas have competed this season, with that set of forwards (with a couple of notable exceptions) is remarkable.

| The first pass to Owen looked OK. The second one i thought was a bit iffy but yet it WAS MILES MORE OF A BACKWARD pass than some others which have been let go all season. Some of O'Loughlins pasases to the wingers were far worse than what Owen got today but have been allowed to stand.
Inconsistency is the problem.
That is a training issue for refs and linesmen more than an issue about rules and science

| The problem with forward passes is most fans, and stevo focus on the movement of the ball. They compare two points and decide that means it is forward.
Refs, touch judges and the RFL will tell you to pay more attention to the hands, the movement and position of the hands will show you more certainly which passes are forward and which arent. Next time you see a forward pass being replayed, look at the position and movement of the arms and hands, forward passes make these actions look very unnatural

We haven't had those forwards, we're missing nearly all our props! There was only one in the Cas 17 yesterday!
Of course, I'm sure that wasn't mentioned on Sky, unlike Leeds' 'massive' injury crisis...

Two - Jackson and Emmitt.
Missing our main prop - Huby - Fozzard and Walker, though. Three key forwards.
