Two historical clubs with generations of tradition that have struggled to reach five figure crowds in recent years. I think it was a fair comment. In an ideal world all three clubs would be playing to even bigger crowds but it takes hard work behind the scenes, community interaction, discounted (sometimes heavily) season tickets and a host of other innovation and factors.'"
Well, when you consider we were at 3,400 about 5-6 years back, losing every week, I think we're doing very well. We also suffered from being a basketcase of a club in division 3 for years, we fortunately got a wealthy backer, and we're doing well.

You say it yourself. Not too long ago your great club was struggling. I'm over the moon your crowds are up and as I said, I'd love to see crowds up across the board.

No that I'm trying to defend our crowds, but our games so far have been against Crusaders, Huddersfield, Hull, Castleford and Catalans, none of which are big drawers, with two being on Friday nights and one on Sky. Sky have stupidly decided to show the Salford game, which means a usual poor crowd will be even worse, especially if we lose on Monday. Once we play the likes of Wigan, Saints and Leeds, the average will be significantly bigger.

Very true, we were very very deep in the poopie, now we're doing very well, two more years of success, we could reach 10,000 I think.

I used to like the Cornerhouse when it was the Valiant Soldier.
The White Horse was too rough for a pacifist like me

| Well its clear that WakeyTom is either jealous that Wakey might drop from SL at the years end and hey, thats just not fair...or he has relocated to Brighton or similar and wants to make no effort to go watch the games.
Oh and Phipps is a deluded feck.
Mods.....any way you can stop this fool from creating threads? All they ever are is Quins this Quins that....in a highly lame and bias manner.

| 15 away fans? Wakey and Salford are no better than Quins in terms of home support. They're just nearer the rest of SL which bumps their attendances up. I admit it's poor though and Im not sure there's a solution tbh. Not without bags of money and some success. Neither of which look close to happening. Im not sure why it really matters though, as long as we can afford to carry on and are the pinnacle of an exceptional youth and amateur scene in London.
Its a great match day atmosphere, the team are playing some ok stuff this year so I for one would be completely gutted if we disappeared.

Wakefield’s home support is no better than Quins .
You are correct though with your assumption that, if Quins can afford to carry on, however, I can’t see your Sugar Daddy taking to many more hits single handed.

| Quote: Pinkerton "I'm sorry, but how can you compare those two games? Cas-Wakefield is a full on local derby, Quins-Catalan isn't and never will be. This is probably our least popular game with crowds, whereas Cas-Wakefield will be the highest. That's not a fair comparison to make.
A better one would be that Castleford had 4,000 to see them play Catalan. Now for a true Rugby League town, that's a far worse crowd than ours today IMO.'"
This is a bit unfair to compare Pinkerton . This game was on sky , and was nearer 5k that 4k ( 4,889 ) . Our average crowd this season is now 6,868 , admittedly boosted a bit by Good Friday game . However , if you remove our two games that have been shown on sky , our average home crowd is 7,582 , with no individual game under 6000 , including matches against Salford and Crusaders . Yes you are right in saying that Cas is a hotbed of rugby league , but we are one of the best , if not the best , supported team in the super league based on population . At the last consensus the population of Cas was 37,525 . This would represent an average crowd per head of population of over 18% . Not bad , I am sure you will agree . Don't get me wrong , I am not saying for one second that all of our crowd comes from within the Cas district , but I am sure that the majority do . Now I also don't suggest that you can say that Quins should be able to get more crowd considering London has a population of 8 million either , but looking at the borough of twickenham alone the population is well over 100k . All in all I think that Cas do pretty well considering , and the fact that we areon the shortlist for the loss of our franchise ( which we are more than in the running for ) when you consider the amount of interest and the percentage of people that come to watch our club is a real pointer imo that the franchise system needs reviewing

Wakey average 6500, while Salford average 5000 and Quins 2700. Wakey played Quins the other week, the crowd was all Wakey fans, next to no Quins fans and got 5412 in. So what you say about 'They're just nearer the rest of SL which bumps their attendances up', doesn't hold much water.

| Shifty-Wakey will be able to lift the average Championship crowd next year- 5K will look good against Batley.

| I really don't get this preoccupation with attendances......so long as Harlequins RL are financially viable then they will remain in SL.......as for SKYTV saying the'yd reduce the cash if there were no london?????.....does anyone here care to find out? Seriously...if London were the team to go and let's say the money dropped to 500k each......how many clubs would survive? 10 grand a week drop in "profitable" income.........how would say Wakey, Castleford, HKR and Widnes cope with that?
Back to the 80's with Wigan winning it all as the only professional outfit....FC, Leeds and Wire going part time...with maybe 1 big name each and Union.....picking up the cream of the game.
