No, but if Super League places for the 1996 debut season had been decided on achievements on the rugby pitch (rather then preferential treatment....  ) the Cougars would have been.  |

They were a fad. There was no long term sustainability in their business plan, nor did they benefit Rugby League as a whole.
The RFL gave London Broncos £10,000,000 and let them in instead, obviously. |

Bit harsh calling it fickleness - don't blame those who stayed away afterwards personally. You work so hard to get to the top flight, then to have it taken away. And to know that it was probably your one chance to make it. |

Again I think that's unfair - they had developed an incredible fanbase (for a non-top flight club), and a marketing strategy that clubs like Bradford would take huge inspiration from.
IMO Keighley could certainly have been as big a club as say Cas and Huddersfield. And they would have benefitted Yorkshire and Lancashire clubs (with their away support) more then Quins have tbf. |
