| Quote: JB Down Under "but he didn't mentions state, he talked about capital cities and showed the usual East coast ignorance that you get in the media over there.
and what's with the Telstra legal fight? On what grounds? When the contract runs out what are they going to take the NRL to court over? Not one of his best articles by a long shot.'"
hes the one signing the cheque so if he thinks that its good for RL.
the telstra thing shows the internet rights are going to be worth a lot
nine have said theyll commence legal action if the nrl tries to unbundle origin from the nrl
even though talk of legal action is bad, it shows the existing rights holders are really worried about losing the nrl and are afraid of competetion from rivals
were going to make a killing

| F54k Telstra, they have no rights unless the NRL signed something we don't know about (who knows actually, but I doubt it).
I'll never ever go with Telstra ever again, a real rip off.

www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/ ... 6003336694
finally gallops grown a pair and gone from talking about their "national" profile to staking out our turf
the first RL leader to do so was micahel searle whilst other guys were saying nothing
AFL knows how important sydney is to its fight to be the number 1 sport and despite millions spent on advertising here and the loss of many clubs due to the SL war they are still struggling
rugby league has shown a remarkabale resiliance coping with bad TV deals for 15 years whilst other sports have had millions in firepower to raid us
within 12 mths the nrl will finally remove the legecy of the SL war and push upwards

that $20 millions going to get flushed down the drain
mguires comments dont help them so im happy he said them
we can just use those comments to describe GWS as anti sydney
as the ARU have shown even with $40 million you cant polish a t&&d. they are competing with the best sport in australia, on their home turf
the swans have largely failed after 30 years so the move to GWS sounds like a big act of desperation

That depends on your definition of fail. I am pretty sure if the coin was reversed and the Storm were getting 30k crowds, FTA covg, plenty of local media covg in Melbourne and big reason why the code was getting massive media and sponsorship deals we wouldn't consider them a fail would we?

the swans TV ratings are awful. everyone in sydney has seen the sport and rejected it.
when the storm are shown on TV they easily outrate the swans, indeed when they two teams are on Foxsports the storm bury the Swans
if after 30 years in sydney and massive media all they can get is 80,000 - 100,000 watching a live game on free to air TV, thats a big failure
and their crowds are pumped up a lot by the free members of the SCG, which total more than 10,000, probably 20,000

The Storm are doing fine and at the same time (12yrs old) they are doing better than what the Swans were.
They were averaging over 22k last year before the cap scandal broke and that included a Monday night match against Manly.
The highest club ratings on Pay Tv are the Storm.
The Swans ratings are house considering we have had live AFL on TV in NSW for 35+ years.
Each time the Storm have been shown on FTA TV in a regular season games, their ratings have cr@pped on the Swans from a great height.

| the funny thing is AFL fans thinking if they just keep showing it live on tv people will eventually watch it
people in nsw have seen the sport and passed on it, as have the good people of queensland
got to love your fumbleball fan, about as deluded as union trolls are about their sport

| We all know that AFL is a bunch of muscled up marathon runners, headlessly chasing a ball around and not tackling properly. I have watched it from time to time since the 1980s and the only thing that interested me was the fighting (and the drinking I had to do to make it bareable).
There is a reason the sport has never taken off outside of Australia. The sooner the NRL becomes a more powerful force the better.

| Can someone explain why "land of the falafel" is considered offensive in any way?
It's not even true anyway. Land of the kebab is more like it, which is also not offensive.
