Only if you believe that a professional sportsman gets paid JUST to play sport, which they don't, so it's not a great post.
I think if you look at the job description in his contract, it won't just say "play rugby league to the best of my abilities" in it.

I aren't being a crusader. He shouldn't have said it and it was daft of him to do so. It's not a big deal, and isn't the end of the world. A simple warning is all that's needed to show that it isn't acceptable to be unprofessional in this manner.
It's people that think it's OK for public figures, including those who get paid well to be role models for their sport (which is their business and my business) to be idiots, so long as they perform on the pitch. It's not. It harms the business. It harms the sport. And therefore it potentially harms me and my business.
Nip it in the bud.

I see where you are are coming from, but why do we need it, why do players have to be so professional, why do businesses and fans have to be so touchy, why can't we just accept the difference between intended malice and joke, surely it's just plain common sense ?

There are no pits and steel mills any more. Had RL not been able to spread its appeal beyond that audience it too would have died long ago. Maybe it would spread its appeal a little bit further if certain elements involved with the game refrained from abusing minorities.

gays have a long history in RL.
to be part of the game they were tough.
eg when ian roberts was taunted about it he belted the tripe of the person who did it.
RL welcomes minorities, it always has
this doesnt justify this dumb thread though.
PC madness

| If that's his idea of a joke thank christ he's can play rugby as he'd make a sh*t comedian.
People may take offence, and it's for nobody else to say whether it's wrong to do so. At the end of the day, it shows a lack of common sense to post something like that. I'm sure someone's had a word to say don't be so stupid in the future.

Key part underlined. I'd say confidentally that more than half the country lack this, including Mr Brown.
You could argue that common sense would be for Kevin Brown not to make homophobic jokes (which it is, whether he intended it to be malicious or not, which I doubt) on a mainstream internet site when the RFL have a zero-tolerance stance on it. The RFL are trying to create an image for the game and this goes against it.
I'm only bothered about it because I'm going to be investing into a primary school coaching company in a new area after working for one up in Leeds during uni. And honestly, there are parents that come in and say they don't want their kids to play certain sports because they "don't want them to be like that." Most common one for me is parents who don't want them to play football "because they don't want their kids to grow up cheats". Whether you agree with their viewpoint or not is irrelevant. If someone has a reason, no matter how small, to not want to take part or invest then it's bad.

| What's done is done. It was stupid thing to put on to twitter where anyone could pick up on it. If it was a slow news day i'm sure some newspaper would have.
A private telling off by Huddersfield and the rfl and "don't do it again" is fine by me.
We all make jokes about certain things, it offended a little bit but then I think I say worse myself. Just if your a professional RL player, don't do it in the public eye.

| It's on his 'personal' twitter account, are sportsmen not allowed to have a private/social life and are they not allowed to have a laugh and a joke? Do you follow him on twitter? If not then your jumping on the bandwagon sticking the boot in jumping on your high horse (over this incident, that's not a judge on your character).

If he'd sent it on a private email to someone I might have some sympathy for that point of view, but if you put something on Twitter it can be seen by the world and his dog - it ceases to be private and you need to think before you tweet.

| Maybe blind gay people have a penchant for the taste of a good hotdog, not averse myself to a good tasting hotdog and onions ?

Twitter isn't a private service, he published his joke publicly for the public to read.
