Quote: Omar Little "Bailey clearly isn't popular around here (except with Leeds fans) and as a result there seems to be a lot of attempting to justify Radford's stupidity.

But does anyone else get the feeling that if the roles were reversed everyone on here would be saying how it was a well deserved red-card for a cheap-shot/sh*t-house/cowardly attack on the man on the floor...

...in fact if we're being brutally honest, perhaps if Radford was black and Bailey white a lot of those sticking up for Radford might have very different opinions...'"

Well, I posted at the on the Challenge Cup final thread that Bailey was a complete c@ck for his last tackle cheap shot on Riley, not the first time he has acted in this way. Can I state for the record that I wasn’t influenced in any way by the colour of Bailey’s skin

To start a thread with the title ‘set aside your prejudices?’ is somewhat over the top for the fans of a sport that is generally regarded as one of the most inclusive in the country with a proud history being the first to break down racial barriers

As for the Bailey/Radford incident – Radford deserved his red card, Bailey’s elbows were flying around on the floor and I’m sure he deliberately targeted Radford’s head but the reaction was way over the top. Ask him now and I am sure that Radford would have preferred to stay on the pitch, smash Bailey in every tackle and win the game

I was away and watched the match with a few others ( of various clubs ) in Blackpool, a heated debate followed.

The conclusion we reached was

1) The ref maybe just saw Radders hitting the prone Bailey

2) The ref had ample opportunity to consult with his touch judges and the fourth official

3) The ref saw the attempted head butt on Long or he needs to go to specsavers

Given the level of external input from others we found it very odd that Mr Smith took the line he did, in fact it was very odd. One player ( Radders ) was guilty of violent behaviour and was given the correct red card and one ( Bailey) was also guilty of the same offence and got nothing.

No doubt the naughty boy panel will rule this week on one player ( Radders ) with a good conduct record and one (Bailey) with a long list of offences, don't hold your breath.

Justice would be Radders S.O.S., Bailey 3 matches my opinion has nothing to do with race, colour or creed its about serial thuggery.

Or you could offer to go twelve rounds with him yourself...

Quote: TonyGee "Radford should have been sent off, It was the correct decision.

If the two players were squaring up and punches had been thrown then the red card would not have been shown but Radford attacked a man on the floor who could not defend himself. Thats a straight red card.

But, Bailey was throwing the elbow in and knew exactly what he was doing, he has been getting away with it for years and this time he got what he had coming. When it happened i would imagine 90% of the Rugby watching public probably uttered the words " its about time ".

The ref was right, And Radford is more popular because of what he did.'"

First post i have read on here that gets it SPOT on.

Radford should have gone for punching a man on the ground. The ref did not see the start of it and hence put the incident on report ( ie Bailey's elbowing).

What i would think is more interesting will be the disciplinary view. Bailey should get one game for the elbowing. However, Red Hall will not ban him because it will leave Leeds with three props out. He will get off with it on the grounds he was trying to kill headlice on Radfords hair.

Radford should get either a one or two match ban (taking into account his red card i would go for a one match ban).

But your opinion does have everything to do with your ill informed preconceived opinions of Bailey.

(If you need me to spell it out re-read your paragraph above then go and check out Ryan's disciplinary record)

Did you even read the first post? Maybe then you'd understand the title of the thread better

This is THE most interesting post , will the RFL disciplinary committee be swayed by this ?

As I have posted , certain club officials
Have too much influence at the RFL

Great example that. You hate Cockayne who plays for HKR, given your username one would assume you have an underlying prejudice against HKR players.

yeah thats definitely it, a Leeds based RFL conspiracy to protect Ryan Bailey

In fact GH has spent years building up his relationship with the RFL purely to stop Ryan Bailey getting a one match ban.

What it definitely isnt is people making a mountain out of a molehill because its Ryan Bailey, certainly not, no sir,

Neither party is innocent. Lets look at the facts.

Radford might have held down too long, still didn't deserve the elbows to the head he recieved. This in-turn, did not warrant Radford's reaction to stand up and throw 3 punches which 2 connected while Bailey was lying on the floor unprotected

Bailey might have been given an easier ride if he had got up and let the handbags reach their natural conclusion but, as is usual with Bailey and why is he universally disliked (bar most Leeds fans) is that he went back in late to try and act the big, tough man and attempted to headbutt Long which luckily didn't connect.

Personally I think Bailey had this coming. He got away with his cowardly attack on Riley in the last second at Wembley as well as many years of dirty, niggly, third man in tactics.

In terms of the punishments dealt I think Radford was right to be sent off, you can't have players punching other players while they are on the ground unprotected, if at all. Nevertheless I think he should be given sending off sufficient because it happened in the heat of a fierce derby while being provoked by Bailey's elbows.

One things for sure, it will be VERY tasty if Leeds and Hull meet in the play-offs (if that is possible before the Grand Final)

Quote: FearTheVee "Newton's disciplinary record was also pretty good IIRC until late in his career he finally got what he deserved.

In fact, did he ever pick up a red card in top flight RL? (genuine question, I don't know the answer)'"

I can think of a few occasions he should have been (two in one match against you lot) but i don't recall him getting one. Had a quick peruse of google and couldn't find anyhting there either. There was a good article involving him (to use permissable language) having a wee wee on Barry Mac's hands while he was at Leeds.

Bring back the biff. In the good old bad old days. The ref would have said "right you've both had a go apiece now get on with the game". Discipline, it's killing the game.

However it's good to see Bailey on the receiving end. icon_wink.gif
