The AFL and Football are taking the long term view.
The arrogance of your success is clear to see and will bite your bum within the next 10 years. The money that is involved in the worldwide game of football makes the NRL look like a soup kitchen. |

everyone has opinions on the best way to grow the game going forward.
his is perth.
i dont agree with that
the NRL is in a very strong position and the scary thing is its getting stronger every year.
AFL needs to pay $1 million a season to a RL player to try and expand into queensland.
you dont see the Storm paying $1 million for an AFL player.
TV ratings are very strong, crowds are getting better, we produce loads of very talented juniors every year, the competition is very even.
so yeah im happy |

Insulting other posters and trying to devalue their argument does not make you right ... it just makes you look insecure.
How much did the AFL get for TV rights compared to the NRL????? They are already sowing the seeds for the destruction of their hated enemy the NRL in many other ways, but in their arrogance the NRL cannot see it.
Football does not need to take the NRL on yet it will eventually pervade your culture just like it does everywhere else.

since the introduction of RL into nsw and queensland in 1908, it developed into the number 1 sport from 1909 onwards.
nothing will ever change that
other sports are very minor.
im not insulting you, just pointing out where you are making a fool of yourself. |

we prefer more masculine sports (or at least in nsw and queensland). AFLs not much more masculine than soccer.

When you watch the NRL you are watching the Australian version of Rugby league.
When you watch the Super League you are watching the genuine article.
Seeing it was the English who invented rugby league and its rules then surely any interpretation of those rules made by the English makes it the true form of Rugby league and not the ised version the Australians play.
Quality is irrelevant in this argument, super league is far more attractive to watch and much more entertaining. Whether it is conducive to producing a test match winning side is also irrelevant.
