no thanks! if a failing sydney team can't make it in a rl mad city like sydney they'll hav buckleys in a tough sporting environment like perth.
we want a wa club run by wa people that are in it for the long haul. we have already been shafted once by eastern states blow ins who cleared off when the going got tough.
I would like to see us act as a feeder for an nrl club for the next 2 years though as we continue to grow and move into the nsw cup.

During the past week, that solution has emerged on the Central Coast. Following last night's historic resolution, Cronulla will now host five games over the next five years at Bluetongue Stadium, which offers teams a minimum $100,000 guarantee per match. At their present crowd average, the Sharks are losing about $25,000 a game at Toyota Stadium.
"We need to expand our brand and get into new markets to generate new revenue streams," Zappia said.

North Sydney Bears and Cronulla Sharks exchange barbs over Gosford move
If they think they can play five games and get 15,000 people, well it ain't going to happen. It is just destabilising rugby league in the area. As I said, they have stated this is purely a revenue-raising move."
North Sydney continue their push to start up a franchise playing out of Bluetongue Stadium. It is understood the Bears are close to announcing some corporate sponsorships.
"It's the same as the Northern Eagles. They played one game here a month and the Central Coast people voted with their feet and it all went downhill," Florimo said. "Everyone has recognised since day dot that this is a rugby league heartland area."
But Zappia was furious with Florimo's comments - saying Norths' concerns should be tossed aside given they aren't in the NRL.
"I find those comments disrespectful," he said.
"I find it astonishing that someone would make those comments when they aren't even part of the NRL."

| Smart move to keep themselves alive.
What team could possibly relocate at right now besides the sharks?, so many areas which deserve / should have a team.
When Manly talk about relocating where are they thinking of going?

| JB if the sharks move permanantly to gosford, then perth will be in next time 100% with brisbane rather than fighting it out with them
the sharks shouldnt be allowed to use the area like that.
either move there full time now or die off.

NRL knocks back Sharks Gosford plan
THE NRL has knocked back a request from Cronulla for funding for the club to play five home games on the Central Coast from 2010.
An NRL statement said the league "is not prepared to embrace" the proposal, reportedly asking for $250,000-$350,000.
The NRL has $8 million on the table for any club prepared to make a permanent move to Bluetongue Stadium.
Thursday's decision shows the league is not prepared to fund a part-time move to the Coast.
"The partnership executive committee has only had the opportunity to look at Cronulla's proposal on a preliminary basis," NRL chief executive David Gallop said in the statement.
"It is not prepared to embrace the idea at this stage.

www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/s ... 66,00.html Great move for the future of the NRL. The team has to be there full time. If we put one there on part time basis and keep using the central coast league fans as 2nd rate people that should just accept and embrace what we give them, the NRL will lose its strong hold there. They want there own team and most of them are already full blown Bears fans waiting for the NRL to get them in there when the next TV deals are done. We must put the bears up there for the survival of the whole NRL along with a 4th Queensland team. We cant save the sharks and kill the league. Majority rules, so long sharks!

| You think the NRL can't survive with a CC team?
Where's the evidence that there are any Bears fans on the CC? In fact the Bears have done nothing in the last 10 years to have any affinity with the area. Why aren't they playing out of there now instead of letting teh Storm base a team there?
The NRL should give the Sharks some decent amount to repackage as the Southern Sharks and play 6 games in Adelaide and 6 games in Cronulla. Everyone wins then,
add Bears and Reds in 2013 and you basically have every major population centre (except greater Hobart) in the country represented by an NRL team. 2nd Brisbane and Wellington in 2018 and we have the perfect 20 team league. Incentive for a Sydney team to move to Adelaide permenantly after the Sharks 5 year deal.

| Perth needs to be in for there to be true expansion, Someone will have to relocate if there is to be anymore expansion otherwise it will probably be a second Brisbane team and CC. Who wants to see 1 team in 2 different places it doesnt make much sense. Sharks could take a gamble and go somewhere else all together.

with AFL going into gold coast, we need more queensland teams now so id go central coast and brisbane now, and perth wellington later.
of course if sharks go CC now, then its perth and brisbane next time round.
