| Quote: The Horses Mouth "I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion yesterdays actions were not as bad as the Widnes v Cas game?
Being a Widnes fan I was at the game and, although our collection of numpties went onto the pitch, there was no outbreaks of prolonged violence (mailny due to the restraint of the Cas fans who let our pricks get on with it), just a stupid bit of trying to confront the opposition fans.
Looking at yesterday clips, there fans fighting with their own fans, people being kicked when already down on the floor and the Women's World Windmilling Champion having more hits than Westlife.
Of course it was worse.
As has been said, with the outcome of the game being so massive, it was always a possibility no matter who won, especially with the game being so close. It definitely needs reviewing for next year.'"
For real? yesterday was a group of people estatic at their team coming back from the dead going on the pitch.
Widnes lost v cas, and had known so for some time. They entered the pitch for one reason only, to fight.

Bad taste yes but, not the cause, nor the reason for the trouble.'"
You are right, I wasn't suggesting that Koukash bringing out the "cheque" instigated the invasion.
However, it is perhaps indicative of a culture of disrespect that he has created.
Most club chairman/owners in these kind of circumstances would try to de-escalate the situation. Koukash bringing on his "cheque" risked making things worse. It was a stupid thing to plan to do, and an even stupider thing to actually do given what was going on.

There did seem to be some Salford "fans" who went straight over to the Hull KR supporters though and began to taunt them. Fans running on to celebrate would usually celebrate with the players from their team who were mostly gathered at the Salford end. I'm not sure why they saw the need to run past this and head straight for the KR fans if their only intention was to celebrate.

| Hudgell on Twitter describing hull KR fans as being "dignified". Nothing condemning what happened.
So clearly he'll blame it on a minority and seek to sweep it under the carpet.
If he isnt prepared to face up to reality then the RFL have to throw the book at them.
Empty stadium next year only solution. Id also relegate Salford because their fans are trash too.
We can continue to say it's only a minority or sort out clubs with a clear problem.
It was the championship shield final today at odsal. Thank goodness for our sport that after a fiercely contested showpiece of the British sporting calendar there was no repeat of yesterday's mass disorder.
Hopefully the rest of us decent people can move on and start to repair the damage done to the sport's reputation.

What you mean the stitch up by a bunch of Bradford liars, then one.
Was I defending it, I don't see where Iam but to a fully paid up member of the permanently offended brigade I can see why you've taken hat line - now jog on you silly little man.

You are right it was one though. The first one was enacted so can't be described as suspended.

| Quote: alleycat "A few years ago, on the final whistle of the Wakey v Cas relegation decider (arguably the original MPG that fuelled SKY's interest in creating a MPG every year), a large number of Wakey fans invaded the pitch and started taunting the losing Cas fans who were gathered at one end of the ground. To their credit, the Cas fans largely did not react (I don't like giving credit to Cas fans because my wife and kids were once subject of violence at a Cas away game; on another occasion I was spat on by them when raising money for a charitable cause; but on this occasion they acted with class and dignity which cannot be ignored!).
However, some 10 mins or so before the end of the game, the stewards gathered at the Cas end of the stadium; within a few minutes of the pitch invasion, the stewards had been joined by a large number of police officers and had formed a line across the width of the pitch in front of the Cas end. They then walked forward in a line and 'pushed' (largely not physically) the Wakey fans back beyond the half-way line. Situation defused.
I suppose the point I am making is that, in such a highly charged game with so much at stake, it had been foreseen that there may be problems and a contingency plan had been drawn up to deal with them. The stewards/police at HKR did not seem to have a co-ordinated plan and approach; hence the problems.'"
I think both sets of fans who were at that match will agree that it was a text book response. The stewards were the proper security ones not kids and the police were the proper riot control ones. In fact it was amazing because I certainly didn't spot them during the match they seem to appear from nowhere.
As you say by contrast the security looked totally inadequate yesterday.

The fans I saw ran straight to our players to celebrate. Then to kr players to commiserate, no gloating it goading
Not saying that didn't happen with some fans, just saying what I have seen
Shame we are discussing this rather than the greatest 2 minutes of rugby I have ever seen. Ok I may be biased
