Was it not the very early days of super league, that Wakey voted to merge with Cas, or is the old memory failing me.

TRL poll favours Toulouse at 52%
Then they consider the knock on of who goes up to the Championship.....
71% Newcastle. Pretty much a win win all round this as we lose a phoney "Expansion" club and gain two Giant steps outside M62 land........
That will do me.....

IIRC there was talk of Calder RLFC a merger of Wakefield, Castleford and Featherstone.....
A fans on field protest in a game between the latter pair scuppered that reet quickly......

Not particularly the choice of TotalRL fans, polled only 2%.......
hearts often rule heads, but for me, also a no, not playing out of Dewsbury.

Your memory is definitely failing you.
Mind you, it's been muted so many times by those in the media and those wanting to shrink the number of clubs in SL, that you can be forgiven.
Even the proposed ground share went down like the proverbial lead balloon but there were plenty of local politics involved.
Leigh or Toulouse for me = more of the same or something new, although Leigh will initially bring some decent away support

| Imo it has to be Fev or Toulouse.
I hate the idea of just plucking a side who haven't particularly earnt it on the field . Fev made the most recent grand final and had the dire circumstances of travelling to Toronto for a final, utter nonsense. Without patronising Fev fans, they deserve to be in super league, they've improved their ground (more than can be said about Cas and wakey) they've competed at the top of the championship fairly consistently over the last decade, they were cruelly shafted in the past. The trouble is, they'd be relegated by Easter because they're that far behind the 8 ball. If allowed, their fans would travel well and enjoy it and muster some old rivalries along the way...
Toulouse, finished 2nd in the most recent season. They're a far more sustainable project for the league than a side in canada and add to the french contingent. This won't create some mythical derby with Catalan btw because they're about 6 hours apart. They've got some decent players and it would be a gruelling trip in summer for some super league sides.

But TRL poll is not making the choice are they. Bradford will be a major candidate thats a fact nothing to do with opions, as i said not my choice but can also see some massive pro’s for Bradford, but yes playing at Dewsbury is a massive Con amongst other things.
You don't gave to make everything an argument its a discussion.

[i[u"If we don't merge we lose Featherstone altogether"[/u[/i
Was where I suddenly had to stop the video and come back on here to note that Featherstone are still around 24 years later, and are a grand club playing out of a modernised facility. But hey ho-Rugby league is dying and if we don't expand to Ottawa, Perth, Vancouver, New York etc then the game dies.
It's been a weird journey making the point that RL works along the M62 and has done for 124 years, only to be told if we don't shut most of it down along the M62 and keep Hull, Leeds, Saints Wigan and Warrington, and get them to play variously in Canada, the USA and Western Australia then that very soon will be that.
I think they still believe that over on the other RL discussion site On Tuesday the posts were overwhelmingly declaring the death of English Rugby League.

Need to take you up on your 6 hours. Its 129 miles and suggested time (by car) 1hr 47 mins
It would indeed be a French derby and I would pay good money to be there. It could be quite spicy.
As for your 6 hours, bloody hell, Toronto was only 7/8 hours

Whoa there......... YORK performed better than Featherstone over the season. They have a great facility like Fev but I understand it that Mr. Flatman has the money to havily invest and compete whilst the good Mr. Campbell at Featherstone sadly does not. Reference Leeds "A"......
