| But apparently, the RFL are giving him the option of an early guilty plea (Westwood, that is.)
This early guilty plea thing is not my cup of tea tbh.

Agreed.
You shouldn't receive a lesser ban for admitting your guilt early on. If the misdemeanor is worthy of a ban, then you should get the full ban.

Yep, but that wasn't a case in point IMHO.

| Don't guilty pleas in a court of law attract lighter sentences? I assume the RFL (and the NRL) are using the same logic - save us all time and hassle (plus vindicate the ref/video reviewer in the process) and we'll cut a deal on your sentence.

Correct about courts in England and Wales and probably correct that the RFL applies the same regime.

| Both have submitted guilty pleas - two games for Lauaki, one for Westwood.

| Completely stupid moment, and deserves to be banned. There was absolutely no need. Good player, shame he isn't the brightes in the box. Lauaki is lucky with two games IMO, could've and maybe should've been more.

| Quote: Andy Gilder "Anyone defending Westwood must be trolling, right?
It's a deliberate attack to the head of a player who was being held by two opponents. It's either a grade C or D for deliberately striking, or D to F for a deliberate stiff arm to the head with no intention to make a legitimate tackle.
Either way he should be looking at 3 games as the very minimum.'"

Sorry for the late reply. I think when it comes to stuff like this I'm reminded of the time when Paul Harrogan did a similar thing to Ian Lucas which led to the citing of players in internationals for such offences. The tackle ended Lucas' career just as he was starting to really come of age. Ended his career, his schoolboy dreams, supporters hopes and probably his future income aspirations.
It's one thing somebody throwing a punch at you and you fighting back but a swinging arm is not only an attempt to injure the opponent it is always one where the attacker knows the individual has little chance to respond or defend themselves (they are effectively prone). I would say you could argue it's even more willful and deliberate than a punch.

Have you? And what level of rugby league was that deemed acceptable?
