| the only real issue seems to be one of timing regarding there entry in the nrl
they are zero chance next time around....
but by the next TV deal they can be an excellent chance and indeed a front runner if all the promises made are fullfilled
the benefits to int. RL would be fantastic as would the passion of the PNG people for the game
stanley genes tears after their WC game shows what im talking about
a PNG NRL license would be fantastic for their nation, for the NRL and for the greater game as a whole
its up to the bid team and their government to put all the pieces together into a compelling bid

| Quote gutterfax="gutterfax"...so they won't receive money from the TV kitty.......they will pay the NRL to take part? Yep, that's a sustainable business model I can see lasting
You're mistaking an argument for stating FACTS. PNG is a third world country........it is not able to and should not be considering a bid for any professional sports team BEFORE it sorts its problems out.
Both would bring more to the NRL than the embarrasment that would be a PNG team...seriously, you can't believe that an NRL team would be like mother theresa waiving her healing hand
Tell you what......let's laugh together shall we?
Port Moresby: Population 225,000 (at a stab...NO PUN INTENDED
), national average wage $850 a year = $191,250,000 total income for residents of the city.
Wellington (metro) Pop 180,000 national (median*) income $30,000 per year...5,400,000,000 (Billion) income for EVERY* resident in the city regardless of age.
So, just shy of 200 million or 5.5 billion...which one interestes advertisers (that's where your TV money comes from BTW)
NB: PNG pop 6,500,000 x $850 a year = 5.5 billion.....shame there's roads into Wellington and not Port Moresby eh...Hmmm.....if I knew anything about the Bid? I take it the article below is incorrect then.
[urlhttp://www.couriermail.com.au/ipad/heat-on-nrl-as-bid-war-mounts/story-fn6ck6f9-1226081903917[/url
Yeah.....this is the same PNG government that will miss EVERY TARGET set it by the international aid bodies that give it cash yearly......I trust them already
Nope...realist.
The residents of soweto LOVE SOCCER.....funnily, I haven't seen the Premier League, La Liga, Bundersleage or anyone else falling over themselves to tap into the huge potential advertising revenue by getting a team in there.
....that's because they aren't the demographic the TV Advertisers want. I have seen pre-season tours though.......do many NRL teams do pre-season on PNG
Put simply, an NRL Bid document can cost upwards of $100,000 to produce......that money would be better spent by being given to unicef. I repeat...$850 a year is the average income of a PNGian.........
Look...you are so obviously passionate about this subject, but rather than saying "I Know nothing about it" or that "I am full of shi7", why not accept that the PNG bid, now or in 10 or even 25 years years time, is fraught with danger and potential for complete failure. Get them to sort out all the problems first............an NRL team is not the answer.'"
So you ignore all the things that the bid team has in place to deal with every issue.
And instead you just go back to slandering the people and the country instead of considering how the team will actually help deal with some of the issues there.
I shouldn't expect any less from a union troll I suppose.

Quote dally messenger="dally messenger"Have u been to cronulla?

Many times. What is your point?
The fact that Cronulla have been on borrowed time for too long has no bearing on PNG's bid does it?
Cronulla are a throwback and would have probably been gone by now if it were not for the SL War.
They will not be around in another decade.
I see your points for PNG's inclusion.
Much of it is pie in the sky, many teams have promised to build stadiums I believe, only a few have delivered.
Sponsors are not locked in until they put their money down and talk is cheap.
The Government does not have any money, they are broke and rely on handouts from aid and Mining royalties.
Who is financing the Stadium?
John Ribots Super League "vision" delivered on how much of its promises to make Rugby League a "World" game played in a major way in the USA? Do you believe all of the spin you are fed?
Australian Government travel advice for PNG.
[iWe advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in Papua New Guinea because of the high levels of serious crime.
Pay close attention to your personal security at all times and monitor the media for information about possible new safety or security risks.
Crime rates are high, particularly in the capital Port Moresby and in Lae, Mt Hagen and other parts of the Highland provinces.
Following recent murders in the town of Popondetta in Oro Province, law and order has deteriorated. The potential for more violence exists. Travel to Popondetta, and on the road between Popondetta and Kokoda, may be dangerous. You should be extremely vigilant when travelling in and around Popondetta.
In June 2011, there were a number of recent violent incidents in Central and Southern Bougainville. You should exercise a high degree of caution when travelling in Bougainville, with particular vigilance when travelling beyond Buka into Central and Southern Bougainville.
Ethnic disputes continue to flare up around the country. Disputes can quickly escalate into violent clashes. Such clashes not only create danger within the immediate area but also promote a general atmosphere of lawlessness, with an associated increase in opportunistic crime.
Large crowds and public gatherings should be avoided as they may turn violent.
Car-jacking is an ever-present threat, particularly in Port Moresby and Lae. Car doors should be locked with windows up at all times and caution should be taken when travelling after dark. In the evening or at night, we recommend you travel in a convoy.
There have been a small number of high profile kidnappings for ransom.
A cholera outbreak continues in PNG and the number of affected regions around the country is expanding. The PNG National Department of Health has confirmed cases of cholera in Morobe Province, Madang Province, East Sepik, West Sepik, Southern Highlands, National Capital District (Port Moresby), and in Daru, Western Province. See the Health Issues section for more information.
Wet season is from November to May. During the wet season flooding and landslides have resulted in deaths. Roads can become impassable. Check with local sources on the condition of roads and the likely impact of rain before travel.

From what you've said, we would have to build a secure facility adjoining the playing stadium that would have space for living and training facilites for playing/coaching staff as well as "all inclusive" acommodation for away fans and media. There would also have to be complete segregation in the stadium for visiting fans.
One thing the above would create is a lot of jobs, which seem to be thin on the ground in port moresby, but if the Government are as skint as you say, none of this will be able to go forward. Unless tesco want to open a branch there, of course...

theres nothing stopping the nrl from giving the PNG club similar additional monies for the good of the game

| Quote gutterfax="gutterfax"Nothing is "in plce".......FFS....are you 3yrs old? Do you believe in the tooth fairy? Seriously, PNG's government are skint
WTF? SLANDER? Are you saying PNG isn't any of the things I have said?
Name calling...that's healthy. Ask around the Quins board about my Union troll credentials.........I am anything but. The only people who call me that are the ones I keep in my back pocket having made them look stupid.
PNG will not be a viable NRL team for 25 years + regardless of what you fantasists believe
'"
PNG has a viable and sustainable bid RIGHT NOW. They have everything covered in their bid.
And you think New Zealand and Adelaide are going to get a team WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE A BID!
And you call others fantasists. FMD.
You're just like every other ignorant naysayer. You just like to point at the fact that the country is poor, they have problems blah blah blah. And when the bid presents very clear and viable solutions to any problems you just ignore them and trot out the same simplistic, ignorant nonsense about them being poor.
You didn't even know the NRL minimum wage was $55,000. So you have no credibility when you claim they can't support a team. You clearly have no idea what it would take to support an NRL team when you don't even know the pay structure at NRL clubs.
And on top of that you claim that an NRL team will bring no jobs or money to PNG. Once again, if you knew how many jobs an NRL team creates you'd realise how stupid this statement is. Any business turning over millions of dollars a year adds to the economy where it is based. That's just common sense.
And if you have to call on the fans of a dual code club to prove you're not a union troll and that's all you have to go on I'd say your case is very weak indeed. And the fact that Bazza agrees with you weakens it further.
