Foxtel has 2.5 million subscribers in Australia.
You need to factor in the huge difference in subscriber bases when comparing the viewing figures.'"
NRL avg's 240k a game on pay TV,if you want to compare oranges and oranges, yes four times the union avg! Chuck,in the avg 900k on fta TV for NRL and you can see just how much of a small cousin union is down under.

| Quote: Fully "Australia also has a smaller population; UK 64 million, Aus 23 million. UK's 2.78 times more.
If both were comparable then Australia's figures (multiplying by 2.7icon_cool.gif it would only be around 155k, which isn't massively more significant tbh - certainly for the big games here.'"
155k is still higher than the SL average on Sky which is 135k this season.
Another comparison would be to use the aforementioned Foxtel figures based on 2.5 million subscribers Vs Sky UK's 10.5 million subscribers, therefore multiply by 4.2 and the figure would be 230k.

| Makes. Of sense, if you want to watch the game you will, if there is 1mill, 10mill or 100mill subscribers. As I stated NRL avg 240k so it isn't about number of subscribers but how many people are watching the game.

| No one likes watching Rugby Union in the North of England, that's why its a Southern based sport confined to the M4 corridor.

What's the NRL got to do with it?
May I remind you what you posted earlier?

| Because you brought up a pointless argument about subscription numbers.
As I said take solice that even with the slight drop off twice as many people in UK watch SL than watch super15 in Australia.

| I'm sure its been mentioned in the 9 page measuring contest of a thread, but Thursday games dont inspire anyone. Much prefered the Saturday early evening games to watch on Sky

| Barb showing 315,000 for the Grand Final, up 14% from 2013 but the 4th lowest figure over the last 10 years. ITV 4 showed Poland v Germany soccer at the same time as the GF and they got 580,000........I'd love to see the GF showed on delay on FTA.......start it as the final whistle goes.
The NZRU do this here with the games shown Live on Pay TV and then delayed on a FTA station (owned by sky). Sky wouldn't lose any viewers but the sport would benefit from the additional exposure.

Sky 1 and Pick TV get roughly the same amount of viewers but I suppose it might get more prominence on Sky 1.
To be honest the only way to really reach people is to get it on either BBC, ITV, C4 or C5.
