| Quote: Starbug "Quite possibly , but that is the way of the world , with averages around 2,000 the people of the town are hardly going to fill it for a game with no local based players involved
Many Leigh fans like myself feel no affiliation for the stars of SL that will be gracing the LSV turf , but then again my son has bought a ticket despite not watching a Leigh game for several years , as I said Leigh or England ? , no brainer , Leigh every time'"
My comment wasn't in any way aimed at Leythers. It's the wider rugby league community which needs to think long and hard about the international game. I know a lot of people on here and away from here have had a go at Leigh for not having a train station, but I think that's a poor excuse as if you [ireally[/i wanted to go you would. How many fans go to away games by train as opposed to car or coach week in, week out?
I don't understand the Leigh or England question. Why can't it be Leigh and England?

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

2 Matches on the weekend of my daughters birthday [ although 2 games any weekend in truth ] is just too long to give to RL , so a choice has to be made , club or country ? , club every time

Thats not the point............The train should stop just outside the stadium so some of our " POSTERS" would have to try a little hardy to unearth a worthy excuse NOT to attend.... Broken finger nail, twisted sock etc.

I see what you are saying regarding the attitude of fans towards the international game, but the same applies to the RFL and international authorities.
Personally, football is usually some distance behind RL and, although club comes first, I usually make some kind of effort with England games, say attending at least one of each tri-series. Out of the wider circle I know of Wakey fans, that puts me at the more positive end towards the international game. In this instance, I'd like to watch England in the World Cup. Arranging a low-key friendly on the same day as England's first game is unlikely to persuade any of the less enthusiastic I know, either to make the effort for this game, or to take the international game more seriously (the latter of which is hard to do anyway when Goulding is an international coach).

| I'm not going because the actions of the governing body over the last few years have left me feeling disenfranchised. I used to go to every international (even overseas tours), SL Grand Final, Challenge Cup Final etc but now I go to none of them.
I still care about the game, and I care about my club. The problem is that I feel that the game no longer cares about my club.

Still the same family , but split because they've come into a bit of money and no longer want to be seen with you , they want you to turn up at their parties , but dont come to yours , something like that Derwent

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

Agreed. The England RL brand is horribly tacky, when it should be the pride of our game. Look at the team badge for a start, it looks like it's been designed by a 6 year old on MS Paint. I just can't get excited about England RL at the moment.

10381.jpg There is no such thing as bad weather.......only the wrong type of clothes
EDIT: Except in Ireland where there is no such thing as good weather:10381.jpg |
|
| As a Welshman living in Ireland I have no affinity (sp?) to England.
However I would have gone if it were a GB game and not England.
Instead I will save some travlling money and have a weekend at home instead of the usual flights back to see Leeds, wherever they may be (no I'm not going to watch them against Harlequins either due to the fixture time change)
