And the results from all the Grand Finals -bar one - since the competition began have been contested between the teams finishing in the top two places of the league.
You could also say that with the skewing of the fixture list over the last few years and the fact that the league leadership has been decided by the odd point or two for the same period(apart from 2004 of course), that actually the lead leaders shield does not clearly define the Champion team. Champion teams perform on big occasions, that's what sport is all about. |

I think the 'Champion' team should be the best team. Now we play every team home and away we should give the 'Champion' title to the team finishing top. The Grand Final could be a separtae competition and be great also. The Premier League and Champions League are 2 separate competions in football but are equally as important.

When St Helens beat Wigan in the 1993 Prem Final. I was ecstatic, personally. So far as, an anticlimactic post-league competition of friendlies... nah. |
