He's played a few games of RL to keep him fit etc, down at his local club where he coached and has a lot of friends. I'd rather play RL with my mates than no RL at all too.
He's more than capable of stepping back up.

I think given a couple of weeks to get back up to fitness again he will prove to be quite a decent signing in Championship 1. Probably not as fast as he used to be but still quite quick the last time I saw him play last season.

Hope he does well. He was one of the best wingers in the league at his peak and shoul've been in the GB side a lot sooner, shame injuries have probably finished his career at the top level.

Workington Town are delighted to announce the signing of Mark Calderwood.
The 30 year old former Super League star, with over 230 SL appearances has played in the top flight for Leeds, Wigan, Hull and Harlequins and also has 9 England caps.
He has scored 129 top flight tries and Town are hoping he can bring that standard of finishing to the club.
Commenting on the signing, Town Director Tony Boyd said "Its not everyday that a player of Mark's calibre becomes available. When we were alerted to his availability we moved quickly to secure his signature as we feel he will provide the experience and cutting edge finishing which we will need as we move closer to the business end of this all important season".
Calderwood trained with his new team mates tonight.

You got mixed up between playing against him for your club (remembering him as being 'average') and watching from the sidelines against another club?
Maybe you get some sort of gratification from spounting bull over the internet, giving it the big, 'I played against a SL player and he was average', chatter, I don't know? |
