If they were going to make a miraculous recovery for next week I see no reason why they wouldn't have played tonight, we needed the win. Smith has been open about the fact that many of the players would not have played last week if it had been a normal league game. Clarke has a groin strain, Hicks broken fingers, King a hamstring pull etc. |

What an over-the-top reaction! Wire started quite brightly, and the game could have been quite different if we'd scored from the Andersons' break early in the match. We had a bad 15 minutes when Wigan got on a roll, but the second half was more or less even. The players were slapping backs and encouraging each other throughout. Not a great performance, it's true, but even John Kear agreed they could not be faulted for effort. |

Michael McIlorum - yes Wigan do miss this guy coming on and adding some speed
Karl Pryce - would he seriously have played

Brian Carney - former international who also would have been up for the game
Paul Wood - former international and is a Wigan born lad
Simon Grix - Good young player, would have given us a stand off option when Briers went off
