Agree about Perth, NZ, and Gosford (though [ionly [/ias a relocation of a Sydney side)... Not sure there's really the population centres for another two Queensland teams. Another in Brisbane, yes.
Quote: dally messenger "hell, id even like to see a PNG team before adelaide. a PNG franchise would be much more successful than adelaide will ever be.'"
The fact is if the Sharks announced tomorrow they were moving to Adelaide it would increase the value of our TV rights. It would address Foxtel's concerns that we are not exploring potential new markets.
Announcing a team in PNG would add very little... there's very little media rights value in the place. Sad, but true.
The fact is the Rams were doing OK when News pulled the plug. They certainly deserved a bit more time to prove their worth.

| 1. i wanna see the bears back at the central coast. i dont think theres a need for any sydney clubs to move. times are tight but if they get through to the next tv deal theyll be fine.
bringing norths back would be like bringing souths back.
2. adelaide wont have juniors, and i doubt the number of viewers on tv would be that large. perth will have juniors and probably better tv numbers.
PNG would be more for player development and to get the international thing up to speed. plus if we want a strong international game, PNG would do more than adelaide. all we need for a great world cup is 6 - 10 good teams.
weve got aus and nz covered, we need to get PNG, Fiji, Tonga and samoa up to speed. SL will ensure france, england and wales are up there too. that would give us a basis for a very strong WC.
the way the population of queensland is booming 2 teams over 10 years should be fairly easy to get too.

34439.jpg winning like never before. decoys. mouse traps. chicken wings. lollie pops. shepperds. the crusher. grapples. big league. In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11

| Expanding into Brisbane, whooo the other codes must be shaking in their boots! It's like SL expanding into Featherstone!
Gallop is such a RL visionary!

Brisbane is the third largest city in Australia and is at the heart of the fastest growing region in the country. No offence to Featherstone but how is it comparable to Brisbane?
Besides, it's more interesting what Gallop didn't say. Obviously we won't be expanding the comp with just one team (A 17 team comp? Unlikely).
IMO he and the NRL are obviously planning on a second team to come in at the same time, which you can bet your house that it'll be the WA Reds. (A heartland team and an expansion team just like the recent SL expansion) Gallop plays his cards very close to his chest, remember how he treated the Gold Coast consortium when they had an overwhelming support to join the comp.

you live in australia and dont have much clue.
queensland will in a couple of decades become the 2nd most populated state in australia behind nsw.
with RL dominant in those no other sport will match RL, not even your beloved AFL.
queensland is a RL heartland, and we dont have enough clubs to service them.
more nrl teams in brisbane will also have the advantage of making it tougher for AFL, and could well send the brisbane lions broke.
queensland will be where the AFL as a so called national code fails very badly.

| Hasn't Singos sale of the marketing rights to the Mariners in effect made it very hard or atleast very, very expensive for a club to go to the Central Coast now?

Believe the NS Leagues Club owned 20%. Though no-one seems to have mentioned it in the last couple of years.
