I agree. Should have taken both.
Can't see anyway back for saints now.

No. Superb tackles, but you have to find your way to ground the ball in situations like that. Percival's lack of bulk really showing. If we're not careful here, this could set the likes of Percival and Swift right back. It's got to affect a young player's confidence to be shown up like this.

| Quote: Hasbag "No.
He seems to try and run over the line. On both occasions if he went to the deck and slid he'd probably have scored. The ground is wet so he needs to use the momentum.
However, outstanding defence to sweep across and hold him up on both occasions.'"
Gonna say the same, he just needed to make the most of the wet grass and slide before you get to the line, then no defender can hold you up.

First one he should score (although you've got to credit the Souths defender)
Second one he shouldn't try and reach out. Take the tackle and play the ball imo.

| And in each game it seems to be the whole, SL ref not wanting to seem bias so over compensates and lets the NRL team get away with more than SL team.

| From Brisbane vs Wigan thread the top six NRL teams (South Sydney, Sydney Roosters, Penrith, Manly, North Queensland, Melbourne) are a class above the two NRL teams who have been seen so far. They are a class above because of the quality of their attack. There has been no superstars like Gregory Inglis, Johnathan Thurston, or William Slater, on show so far. Only superstar in the making Anthony Milford, and former superstar Benji Marshall. The top six, by contrast, have numerous sharp and skilful attackers, even if not all superstars.
Take Souths Sydney But Wigan doesn't even have anyone of their quality in the team. Wigan's two best attacking units -- Daniel Sarginson and Matthew Bowen --- are each before their prime and past their prime respectively. Wigan's halves would not make it into any NRL team. The truth is that the soggy ground played into Wigan's hands in that it kept their opponents from powering through them or running around them.
I could point to the same array of attacking talents in Sydney RoostersThe cruel and painful fact is that the top English Super League clubs are only barely equal to mid-table NRL clubs. It has been proven over the past two nights.
Unless it rains or snows on Sunday, thereby making open attacking rugby league difficult, South Sydney will crush St. Helens.'"
Spot on. But it is sadly so.

Seems/seemed that way. Wih the scoreline as it is now though he'll probably be a bit more even 2nd half as the result looks to be gone.
Silverwood was awful in 2010 when he reffed the WCC for Leeds vs Melbourne and the bad blood/relationship between him and Leeds players (Senior in particular) seemed to linger on for another 2 years before it settled down.
It's clear as day that the English refs get intimidated/nervous about penalising the Aussies like they would do if the offences happened the other way around. Can anybody really say with conviction that the penalties given against Bateman and Tomkins last night would've been given if Brisbane were the team defending???

The lack of week-in, week-out intensity that our top clubs have experienced over the last few years is being massive exposed by teams that are just instinctively ruthless.'"
This. I expected Souths to win convincingly, but take no pleasure in seeing it come true. Don't really have a prob with the disallowed, tries, though.

| I blame Thaler, Child,Bentham & Silverwood for not scoring against the Rabbitohs. That's the only reason Saints are behind.

| It is a bit like GB versus AUS. The forwards are holding their own, but the backs are just a class apart.
Let's hope Souths switch off a bit now they've got it won, and saints scrape a couple of consolations to keep the scoreline respectable.
