| Back to discussion.
Any measure of any realistic variable indicates that Rugby League have been, and always will be first in this country.
Have you seen the Foxtel TV ratings for the aussie rules? Typical matches rate 80,000. Typical NRL matches rate 200-250,000. We may not get the same crowds as the AFL but we're number one where it really matters.

Hmmm.
You also didn't mention that the AFL TV contract is better.
Which it shouldn't be, but hey - there's 2 important measures that AFL comes out on top with. So best not to blow your trumpets too loud, because there's still a little way to go before dominance is assured in Aus.
I think they'll do it, mind.

Now [ithat's[/i something we agree on - I think the NRL deserves better.
I find him singularly uninspiring. I'm convinced [iI[/i could do as good a job as him, and I'm happy to admit I have [ino idea[/i how to run a competition.

| why do all of you idiots out there post positive nrl news and turn it into an australia v england thing? it is pathetic. lets be happy that the game is doing so well in both hemispheres. if you stopped carrying on like idiots, i think you would find that most english posters on here enjoy the nrl and are glad of its success, and instead of retaliating to the original post which turns into petty bickering between the two countries. everybody is here because enjoy rugby league, stop embarrassing us fellow australians who actually follow all forms of rugby league around the world. if you dont like super league or rugby league outside of the nrl, there are plenty of nrl forums. it is f*cking pathetic sometimes.

| Well I guess all those responsible for the national surveys which continuously show that RL is more popular then AFL and RU must have "lost the plot" then....

| I feel incredibly proud of Australia. In the same way as I feel proud of my son dribbling round me on the local park or my daughter beating me in the swimming pool.
I mean, you are all just Englishmen living in another country.

Well said! I am pleased to see rugby league doing well in Aus and only wish Sky still had the contract to show the games. I'm fairly sure that bagging those who follow the sport in the UK is counter productive and isn't really helping anything. Maybe the person who posted this thread should bare that in mind..
Or as i mentioned on another thread it could just be a lazy attempt at trolling.
