We did actually have a 'home' game at Murrayfield against Barcelona a couple of years back though so the 'Hertz end of town' thing doesn't really matter.
As it is, I'm still in two minds whether or not to attend the Hibs-Hearts game, never mind the Magic weekend! As somebody who knows just how simple the journey is when everything is running smoothly, the rank train situation certainly isn't helping matters from a personal point of view.

| I do like the concept of the Magic Weekend having a round of Super League in one city and one stadium but the only thing I dont like about it is when they decided to get rid of the derby format last year, the only decent game in there this year IMO is Saints and Hull KR bring back the derby format I say.

I'm not in 2 minds about going, i'd love to go, it's just your tinpot club wont give us more tickets even though they know you won't sell out your section.
Ive got a free ticket for the magic malarky via Sunderland RL if i wanted it, but the day just doesn't appeal to me with only 15,000 ish fans being there, could be a dull atmosphere.
What's the deal with trains anyway Matt? Is it detour to Carlisle time of the year again?

You should be ok for the trains from your side of the hill, but on this side it's a rail replacement bus between Preston and Carlisle - first train from Carlisle only gets in to Waverley at 11:55 so it'd have to be a leisurely jog down Leith Walk to make kick off. And Hibs will sell-out, no problem now that we've only got three stands!

| How many have been sold?
I think the RFL should publish what percentage of tickets to each event have been sold, if they told me the England game at leigh had sold 90% of the capacity, it would give me the kick up the behind i need to go and buy mine. Maybe this could work at other events. Maybe publish a league table of which clubs are selling the most? I'm sure KR would hate to get outsold by FC.

Amazing how when the fixtures were drawn those two didn't look too good, both games should be belters.
If it meant as much money in RFL coffers as MM then aye, Quins (or Broncos as was) were always a supporter of on the road games, mainly through necessity mind.'"
How much does go into the RFL's coffers from Edinburgh?

| Quote: Big Graeme "I have no idea, but the Cardiff tourist board were paying a decent wedge and we wouldn't have ended the contract a year early to go to Edinburgh for less money.
How much was paid by the Welsh? There is no mention whatsoever of any money changing hands for the event being taken to Edinburgh, so where do you get the idea of reading between the lines and a decent wedge from?
Now what about that upsurge you referred to. Where did it occur and how and what was the logevity of it and the end result?
Links please.

There was talk of £500k over three years but as that is a commercial deal you wouldn't expect it to be online, if Edinburgh won the deal it is fair to deduce they first offered a better deal than Cardiff and then offered a better deal that other interested parties.
Quote: Scanners "Now what about that upsurge you referred to. Where did it occur and how and what was the logevity of it and the end result?'"
An increase in numbers attending conference games, an increase in numbers wanting to get involved at both playing and administration level and a wider increased recognition of the Scottish national team. The conference have added teams in Ayr and Kirkcaldy and there were close on 3000 kids exposed to the game in their schools.
No links, personal experience combined with speaking to people involved in the game here.

No bottles, (if my memory serves me right you can take in a plastic bottle with no lid, just put the lid in your back pocket)..but apart from that any-thing, you can take in a cool bag

I wasn't ever checked about anything. They just let us straight through the turnstiles, then we walked up to the stadium and wandered around until we found some seating that we liked. No one check us about anything, which was a surprise considering that we had bag checks at Cardiff, and drinks taken off us + bag checks at Wembley for the 08 CC.

Pretty much what happened to us, between three of us we had two big cameras and decent sized lenses, they never even asked what was in our bags...
Word of warning though, I wouldn't rely 100% on it being the same, I'm a diabetic so I get some leeway on food and drink I'm allowed to take in, dunno about anyone else if they decide to get strict.

I'm an alcoholic, doesn't mean they'll let me take beer in though
I went in last year and had the 2 kids with me and a bag full of snacks, drinks etc. They searched it but everything was fine (well not everything )
