| Quote: Donnyman "Sure the facts are that he hasn't produced a big TV deal for Superleague.
But the big deal we got last time wasn't produced by Blake Solly either, it was produced by a combination of a potential second bidder and a plan to increase the competetiveness across the clubs with BOTH the battle for the Superleague Crown and the enhanced relegation battle.
Blake Solly set that up and arguably he won more money for that from SKY, but it bombed as crowds went down, and the focus of the game at the top was lost and interest shifted to the relegation battle.
So that left Elstone with the same old same old to sell........... I just don't believe that when selling to organisations like SKY, when you are up against smarter and harder negotiators than any freelance salesman you could ever employ, your going to get a contract worth more than the products value.
I don't even believe they even bothered to listen to him. What could Elstone say? What cards could he play?
We receded back to the whole focus being on an M62 league, and consequently we receded back to the same deals we had before the Solly deal.
Expecting Elstone or anyone else to outwit an organisation like SKY sports just isn't feasible........
For me Elstone isn't there to get a massive TV deal for an average small product, he's probably there to push the agenda of the bigger Superleague bosses....'"
If all you say is correct , then they may have as well employed me for a 10th of his salary !

So, the guy charged with securing a "decent" TV deal, has to settle for a massive reduction and you seem ok with that ??
It's part of his job to "big up" the sport.
We have a World Cup coming up on home shores and usually, there would be talk on how this is going to help generate increased support maybe even some new Sky subscribers etc.
If the 3 x 8 system was ever our strongest card, then God help us.
Mind you, whoever persuaded those in charge that it was the new big thing, then perhaps, they should be the one negotiating the TV deal
Presiding over such a big drop in TV revenue hurts the whole sport and NOBODY can be please with that.
The downward spiral continues.

Nope Caddick delegated essentially total control of all football matters to Hetherington when the two of them bought the club in 1996. That's why you never hear from him.

Hetherington has no ownership of Whinos, he is just a gob541te who is up the RFL bottom, most SL owners cannot stand the guy, or his wife or Agar.

I think that in business and politics there is a lot of skill and experience needed if your charged with bringing a good number of rich and strong minded people together.
Let me have your CV in this area and I'll check it and send it in for you. I want 20%.

Indeed, Caddick re-built the ground, the pair of them make quite a team.......

Suffice to say they gave it a go and maybe it didn't work, so the idea that there is someone who from a position of employee can chair a group of generally top businessmen and rich owners has turned out to be a long shot.
So no need to renew his contract, but no need for people to have a go at the guy as some sort of scapegoat, as you say the chairmen don't seem to see eye to eye at all.

Another one of your cogent, well-informed posts. There isn't an administrator in the sport who comes close to Hetherington's track record over decades, both at the club he founded and at the club he now co-owns. I doubt he cares what other club owners, or what morons on the internet, think of him, his wife or his Challenge Cup winning coach.
Just to help remove a tiny bit of your ignorance, the ownership split of Leeds is Caddick Group 76%, Hetherington 19%, Rob Oates 5%.

No real say. Elstones resignation not linked then?
